DOR vs Medal: Free Game Recorder and Clipping App Comparison (2026)

Choose based on whether you want every match recorded automatically or prefer hitting a hotkey to clip what just happened.

If you want every match recorded automatically the moment you launch a game, free and with no watermark or recording length limit, DOR is the better fit. In 7 games, including League of Legends and VALORANT, kills and other moments are also turned into automatic highlight clips. If you prefer a replay buffer where one hotkey saves what just happened, plus a mobile app, a big community and cloud storage, Medal suits you better. Both are Windows-only on desktop and neither supports Mac.

How to switch

How to switch from Medal to DOR

01

Install DOR

Download DOR for Windows for free from clip.dor.gg and install it.

02

Keep one recorder running

Two recorders running at once share your PC's resources, so if DOR will be your main tool, turn off Medal's background recording. Your existing Medal clips are MP4 files, so you can keep them as they are.

03

Launch your game as usual

When you start a supported game, DOR detects it and starts recording automatically. No record button or scene and source setup needed.

04

Trim, edit and share

Trim the part you want in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 in your library, add merges, text and background music in DOR Studio, then share a dor.gg link.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is DOR free like Medal? Does it add a watermark?

DOR is free with no recording length limit and no watermark. Medal is also free on PC and mobile, with optional paid Premium. Medal's Premium page lists watermark-free downloads, uploads longer than 20 minutes and original-quality uploads above 1080p as Premium benefits.

Can DOR save what just happened with a hotkey, like Medal?

DOR works differently. It records the whole match automatically when you launch a supported game, and you trim the moments you want in your library later. The hotkey (F9 by default) starts and stops recording outside games. If you specifically need a replay buffer that saves the last few seconds, Medal (F8 by default) is the better fit.

Which games get automatic kill clips?

DOR's automatic highlight clips work in 7 games: League of Legends, VALORANT, PUBG, FC Online, Fortnite, Counter-Strike 2 and Overwatch. Other supported games are recorded in full so you can trim them yourself. Medal says it detects kills and wins in supported games such as VALORANT, Fortnite, CS2 and Roblox.

Can I use it on Mac or my phone?

DOR is a Windows desktop app, so it does not run on Mac. Medal also says it is Windows-only on desktop, but it has iOS and Android apps for viewing and sharing clips on your phone.

Can I use DOR and Medal together?

You can install both, but if both record in the background they share your PC's resources. Unless you clearly split their jobs, such as full matches in DOR and short replays in Medal, it is better to stick with one as your main recorder.
