Key takeaways
  • According to PUBG's official support page, the default PC keys are WASD to move, C to crouch, Z to go prone, Space to jump, Shift to sprint, Ctrl to walk, Q and E to lean and V to switch perspective, with Tab or I for the inventory and M for the map. Check your current client under Settings > Key Bindings.
  • Since Update 42.3 in August 2026, you can clear a binding with ESC, restore any single option with its reset button and, on PC, import just the Key Bindings category from someone else's Settings Sharing code. Unused codes expire after 90 days.
  • DOR's automatic PUBG clips cover kills, knock outs, being knocked out and deaths only, so put a clip key (F8 by default) where it never overlaps a game key to save vehicle stunts, revives and other moments. Mouse buttons are not accepted, and Ctrl or Shift combinations need the latest app.

Most people searching for PUBG keybinds want three things: the default PC keys, which keys are worth changing, and how to save or undo a setup once they have changed it. The Key Bindings screen in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS changed a lot in 2026. Update 42.2 in July added Map, Missions and Match Log tabs to the World Map screen, each opened directly with M, U or Y. Update 42.3 in August added Interface, Audio, Spectate and Replay, and Observer tabs under Settings > Key Bindings, along with a way to clear a binding with ESC, a reset button for individual options and, on PC, Settings Sharing codes. Update 43.1 in September brought the kick and carrying items with H, and Update 43.2 in October added shortcuts for Message Radial pages 2 and 3. A keybind chart from an older guide can therefore point you to menus that have moved, or to keys that now collide with new defaults. This guide sticks to what PUBG's official support pages and the 2026 patch notes confirm. It covers the default keys, the changes worth making, how to rebind, clear, reset and import bindings, and where to put a recording app's clip key so it never fights your game keys. Camera and playback keys for the replay viewer are covered separately in PUBG replay controls. Everything here was checked on October 16, 2026, against Update 43.2, and menu names can differ slightly depending on your client language and version.

Bottom line: keep the basics, then fix the busy keys and the new ones

There is no single right layout. Hand size, the number of buttons on your mouse and whether you mostly play first or third person all change what feels comfortable, so instead of copying one player's binds, follow five rules. First, keep the muscle-memory basics: WASD to move, left click to fire and right click to aim. Second, adjust the keys you press together with movement in a fight, namely crouch (C), prone (Z) and lean (Q and E), based on whether your left hand reaches them without strain. Third, audit the keys added in 2026. The Map, Missions and Match Log shortcuts (M, U and Y) can unbind something you had in the same category, right click while unarmed is now a kick, and Message Radial pages 2 and 3 start with no key at all. If you find a new squad and play without voice chat, giving your most-used message page a spare key makes callouts much faster. Fourth, if you want to try a pro's or streamer's setup, do not rebuild it by pausing their videos. If they have published a Settings Sharing code, enter it, import only the Key Bindings category, and reset the few options that do not suit your hands. Fifth, put your recording app's clip key on a key PUBG does not use. While DOR is recording a match it takes the clip key for itself and does not pass it to the game, so if the clip key shares a key with a game action, that action will not fire.

How to rebind, clear, reset and import PUBG keybinds

  1. 1Open Settings > Key BindingsOpen Settings from the lobby, or press ESC during a match to bring up the menu, then go to the Key Bindings tab. Update 42.3 (August 2026) added Interface, Audio, Spectate and Replay, and Observer tabs and regrouped the existing options into more intuitive categories. If an option you changed before seems to be missing, check the new tabs first; the side navigation panel jumps quickly between option groups. Keys missing from the official chart, such as reload, interact and fire mode, show their current defaults on this screen too.
  2. 2Rebind a key and check for overlapsSelect the action and press the new key, then make sure that key is not used anywhere else. According to the 42.2 patch notes, if M, U or Y was already assigned to another function in the same category, the Map, Missions and Match Log shortcuts take priority and the old binding is unassigned. If the same key is bound in a different category, both bindings stay active and pressing it triggers every assigned function at once.
  3. 3Clear keys you do not needKeys you hit by accident, or actions you never use, are safer left empty. Since Update 42.3, a Clear Binding key guide sits at the bottom right of the Settings screen, and pressing ESC clears a key binding. A cleared key becomes free for another action or for a recording app's hotkey.
  4. 4Reset changed options to defaultUpdate 42.3 added a reset button that restores an individual option to its default value, so if a few experiments leave your hands confused, reset just those options. To start over cleanly, re-import the Key Bindings category from a sharing code you generated before changing anything (next step). Whether there is a single button that resets every binding at once is worth checking in your current client.
  5. 5Save and import with a Settings Sharing code (PC)Settings Sharing, added in Update 42.3, generates a unique code from your current settings and lets you enter another player's code to import theirs. When applying a code you choose which categories to import: Audio, Controls, Key Bindings and Gameplay. That means you can take someone's key layout and keep the rest of your own setup. Hardware-dependent settings such as Graphics are not shared, unused codes expire after 90 days, and the feature is PC only.
  6. 6Choose toggle or holdWhether the inventory opens on each press or only while you hold the key affects your hands as much as the binding itself. Since Update 42.3, Settings > Controls > Key Input Method > Interface lets you set Inventory, Extended Minimap, Throwables Radial, Heal Items Radial, Message Radial and Action Radial to Toggle or Hold. Try both in Training Mode before you commit, especially for the radials, because what feels natural differs from player to player.
  7. 7Give your recording app's clip key a free slotOnce PUBG's keys are settled, put your recording app's clip key on a free key. In DOR, outside a match, open Settings > Highlight > Hotkey Setting and press the key or combination you want. On the same screen, Highlight Length sets how much a key press saves (15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds, 30 by default). If PUBG does not use F8 in your setup, the default can stay.

PUBG default PC keys and recommended changes (checked October 16, 2026)

ActionDefault key (official guidance)Recommendation and caveats
Move, sprint, walkWASD, Sprint Shift, Walk Ctrl, Auto Run =Decide first how walk (Ctrl) and crouch will share your little finger. Moving Auto Run to a key you can reach makes long rotations easier.
Crouch, prone, jumpCrouch C, Prone Z, Jump and Vault SpaceYou press these with movement in fights, so judge them by whether you can reach them without lifting off WASD. After moving one, check that no other tab uses the same key.
Lean and cameraLean Q and E (also switches shoulder in third person), First or third person V, Free look AltQ and E sit right next to movement, so there is little reason to move them. Alt is free look, so avoid Alt-based shortcuts in other apps.
Aim and fireFire left click, Aim hold right click, Scope tap right click, Hold breath Shift (while aiming down sights)Right click while unarmed is now a kick (Update 43.1). To kick with a separate key, assign the dedicated Kick action in Key Bindings.
Weapons, inventory, mapWeapons 1, 2, 3 and mouse wheel, Inventory Tab or I, Map M, Missions U, Match Log YM, U and Y became the World Map tab shortcuts in Update 42.2 and can unbind an older action in the same category, so recheck them after updating.
Newer keys and empty slotsH: carry and retrieve items (43.1), hold for the vehicle skin radial (43.2). Message Radial pages 2 and 3: no default key (43.2)If you used H for something else, check for overlaps. Give the message page you use most a spare key.
Clip key (DOR)DOR default F8 (Screen Record F7)Use a key PUBG does not use, or a Ctrl or Shift combination. Mouse buttons are not accepted. In a match the key is not passed to the game; in the lobby or replay viewer it saves the last 30 seconds of the screen through Blackbox Record.

What to check after changing your keybinds

  • Checked that each key you moved is not bound in another tab, such as Interface or Spectate and Replay, where both actions could fire together.
  • After an update, checked that new default keys such as M, U, Y and H did not unbind an action you rely on.
  • Assigned keys to options that start empty, such as Message Radial pages 2 and 3 and the dedicated Kick action.
  • Generated a Settings Sharing code before making big changes, remembering that unused codes expire after 90 days.
  • Confirmed that your DOR clip key (F8 by default) is a keyboard key or Ctrl or Shift combination that PUBG does not use.
  • In your first match, pressed the clip key once to confirm a clip appears in the app and no game action fires by mistake.
Outside a match, in the lobby or the replay viewer, DOR is not recording a match, so Blackbox Record (on by default) waits in the background. Pressing F8 there saves the last 30 seconds of your screen, and the key also reaches the game. If you have bound F8 to something in PUBG's Spectate and Replay tab, both actions will happen, so change one of them.

Save the moments auto clips miss with a clip key

DOR is a free Windows PC app. It detects PUBG automatically and records each match from the moment you join until the match ends. After the match it analyzes the recording and creates clips of kills, knock outs, being knocked out and deaths. Because the analysis processes the full recording on your PC, low-spec PCs may see some lag while it runs. Events of the same type within roughly 20 seconds are merged into one clip, which ends 3 seconds after the last event. Anything outside those four events, whether it is a vehicle stunt, a revive under fire, kicking a door open to push a building or a teammate taking the last kill for the chicken dinner, does not become an automatic clip. With default settings it is still in the full match recording, but you would have to scrub through a long video to find it, so press the clip key right after the moment to save it as its own clip. The default is F8, which saves the previous 30 seconds as a video. You can pick 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds under Settings > Highlight > Highlight Length, but not while recording, so set it outside a match. Change the key itself under Settings > Highlight > Hotkey Setting. Mouse buttons and a modifier on its own, such as Ctrl, Shift or Alt, are not accepted, and combinations that hold Ctrl or Shift with another key work only in the latest app. Older versions show the message This app version only supports F1–F12, so update first. You also cannot reuse a key that is already assigned to another DOR hotkey, such as Screen Record (F7 by default). While DOR is recording a match, it keeps the clip key to itself and does not pass it to the game. Outside a match, in the lobby or replay viewer, Blackbox Record (on by default) is waiting instead: F8 saves the last 30 seconds of your screen, and this time the key reaches the game as well. To keep a long stretch such as an entire replay, press F7 to start Screen Record and F7 again to stop; it captures the whole monitor. If you spot what looks like cheating, press the clip key on the spot and follow how to report a cheater in PUBG. The automatic clips and F8 clips you collect can also feed the app's one-click montage feature when you are logged in. The editing steps are in how to make a PUBG montage.

FAQ

FAQ

How do I reset PUBG keybinds to default?

Since Update 42.3 in August 2026, each option in Settings has a reset button that restores its default value, so you can undo only what you changed. To leave a key empty instead, press ESC on the Key Bindings screen (see the Clear Binding guide at the bottom right). If you plan to experiment with many keys, generate a Settings Sharing code first; to go back, enter that code and import only the Key Bindings category. Unused codes expire after 90 days.

Can I copy a pro player's or a friend's keybinds?

On PC, yes, as long as they share a code with you. Settings Sharing, added in Update 42.3, lets you enter another player's sharing code and choose which categories to apply: Audio, Controls, Key Bindings and Gameplay. Hardware-dependent settings such as Graphics are not shared. Hands and gear differ, so play a few matches with the imported layout and reset only the options that do not fit.

Can I put my clip key on a mouse side button?

Not in DOR. When you set a hotkey, DOR ignores mouse buttons and a modifier pressed on its own, such as Ctrl, Shift or Alt. Use a keyboard key PUBG does not use, like the default F8, or a Ctrl or Shift combination such as Ctrl+F8 in the latest app. Because Ctrl is walk and Shift is sprint in PUBG, press the combination once in your first match to make sure it feels natural.
