If you searched for clan names, you probably have a group already: a VALORANT five-stack that queues every night, a League team eyeing the next Clash weekend, or an Apex trio that finally clicks. What you need is a shortlist, not an essay.
This guide gives you 42 original clan and team names in seven styles: one word, two word, The ___s, funny, game themed, mythic and five-stack. Every name was written for this article, so take one as it is or swap a word to make it yours. Before you commit, remember how many places the name will live.
It becomes your Discord server name, the team you register in VALORANT Premier or League Clash, the tagline on every member's Riot ID, the headline of your recruitment post and the title of every montage you upload.
That is why the second half covers the official rules worth checking before you register, based on Riot Games support pages checked on November 3, 2026, and how to cut your name down to a short clan tag that fits everywhere.
The short answer: an easy name plus a 3 to 5 character tag
The most common mistake is picking the name that looks coolest written down. A clan name is the word your team shouts in voice chat, so it should be easy to say in two or three syllables. If you love a long name like Velvet Thunder, agree on a callout version such as Velvet at the same time.
The second test is whether the name tells people what kind of group you are. A team grinding ranked looks right with a sharp one word or two word name, while a group that plays after work for fun is better served by something funny that sets the mood before anyone joins.
The third test is pairing the name with a short tag. According to Riot's support page, VALORANT Premier team names must be 5 to 15 characters and team tags 1 to 5 characters, and neither can be changed once you leave the Create Team window.
A four letter name like Onyx falls short of the five character minimum, so register something like Onyx Unit instead. The page does not list which characters are allowed, so check on the creation screen before you lock anything in. For schedules and entry requirements, see the VALORANT Premier schedule and requirements guide.

Checklist before you lock in a clan name
- Someone hearing it for the first time can repeat it, and it is hard to typo in chat
- No slurs, insults, sexual references or jokes aimed at a real person
- Not borrowed from a pro team, brand, anime or game character
- The tag next to each member's Riot ID does not spell anything inappropriate; in Premier, a reported combination gets both the tag and the Riot ID forcibly changed
- You checked length and allowed characters on each game's creation screen
How to pick and register your clan name in five steps
- 1List where the name will appearWrite down every place the name goes: your Discord server, VALORANT Premier or League Clash registration, Riot ID taglines, recruitment posts on Reddit or Discord, and the titles of the clips you upload. The more places it shows up, the more a short name that is hard to misspell pays off.
- 2Pick one style and shortlist three to fiveChoose the row in the table that matches your team's mood and cut it down to three to five candidates. Say each one out loud, give it a callout version, then let the team vote so nobody feels the name was forced on them.
- 3Check the game's official rulesVALORANT Premier team names run 5 to 15 characters and team tags 1 to 5. Once you leave the Create Team window the name and tag are locked, and changing them means deleting and recreating the team, so settle it before your first match. The Team Owner can change the logo and colors at any time. In League Clash, the captain picks a team name, logo and tag in the Clash tab to represent the team for the weekend. To fill your Clash roster, see the League Clash team finder.
- 4Build a 3 to 5 character clan tagA Riot ID is a game name of 3 to 16 characters plus a tagline of 3 to 5. Game names do not have to be unique, so as long as the full Riot ID is free, everyone on the team can use the same tagline. When the whole team wears your clan tag as a tagline, teammates are easy to spot in any lobby. Free changes come on a 90 day cooldown, so lock the tag first and switch together.
- 5Register the same name everywhere at onceSet up the Discord server, the in-game team and your community group with the exact same spelling on the same day. Decide capitalization and spacing too, so people searching for you find one name instead of three variants.
Turn your clan name into a DOR guild and collect your best plays
Once the name is settled, create a guild with the same name on DOR so your meetups and your match footage live in one place. DOR is a free Windows app that detects supported PC games when you launch them and records automatically, and on dor.gg you can gather your group into a guild.
Add game tags such as VALORANT, League of Legends or Apex Legends and choose its visibility. The owner approves join requests, and new members get a welcome quest of completing their profile, writing a greeting and leaving a first comment, which earns a full member badge.
Pin announcements to the top of the guild feed and use the guild group DM for quick reminders. Post a schedule like ranked five-stack tonight with the date and time, duration, a player count from 2 to 20 or unlimited, and a game mode; a VALORANT schedule can carry a party code too.
Recordings collect in My Clips in the app. VALORANT kills are clipped automatically with ace and clutch tags, League kills, multikills and objectives become clips on their own, and Fortnite kills and deaths are clipped as well.
Apex matches are recorded in full, so trim the fight where your trio finally clicked and post it to the guild. After a League or VALORANT match, DOR shows the DOR users you just played with and lets you start a guild with them right away. Public guilds also appear on the dor.gg guild explore page.
To stitch everyone's view of a ranked or custom match you played together into one video, see multi-POV highlights with friends, and to compare how other groups run, read how to find the right gaming guild or clan.
