Dressmaker is the cozy crafting game where you choose fabric, cut out pattern pieces and sew them into the dresses your customers ask for.
It was developed by Cozy Lives, published by Free Lives and released on Steam on September 21, 2026, and within days the same few questions kept coming up: can I play it on my phone, is there a Switch version, does it work on Steam Deck or a Mac, and which languages does it support?
This guide answers them from the Steam store data and the development team's own announcements as checked on November 3, 2026. Platform and language lists can change with any update, so treat the date as part of the answer and recheck the store page right before you buy.
Short answer: Steam on Windows and Mac for now, with mobile and Switch ports planned
As of November 3, 2026, Dressmaker is sold on Steam for Windows and macOS, and that is the whole list.
In the launch announcement on September 21, the team wrote that it is planning mobile and Switch ports because players had been requesting them constantly on social media, but it gave no date, and the patch notes that followed on September 22, September 24 and October 14 do not mention a port.
If you see a phone app with a similar name before an official announcement, check whether the developer is Cozy Lives or Free Lives. Until a port arrives, Steam Deck is the closest thing to handheld play.
Valve rates the game Playable, and the team has said it wants proper controller support: the October 14 notes call rebinding all controls and adding gamepad controls, Steam Deck included, a high priority. Languages are simpler.
The store lists English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese, all three marked with full audio support. Korean, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Vietnamese are not listed, so players who read those languages need to play in one of the three listed languages.
Two store features make that easier: the game has a mouse only option and is marked as playable without timed input, so you can read every customer request at your own pace.
How to check platforms and languages yourself before you buy
- 1Read the supported languages table, not the descriptionScroll down the Steam store page to the language table on the right. On November 3 it showed English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. Steam can show the description in your own language even when the game does not support it, because that text belongs to the store page, so the table is the part that counts.
- 2Check the platform icons and system requirementsThe store lists Windows and macOS. The minimum requirements are Windows 10 or later, an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen processor, 8 GB of memory, Intel UHD 630 graphics or better, DirectX 11 and 2 GB of storage, so integrated graphics at the Intel UHD 630 level or above meet the minimum on paper.
- 3Look at the Steam Deck compatibility boxThe Steam Deck section on the same page shows Playable. Valve's test notes for this game point to on-screen controller icons that do not match the Deck and some text that is hard to read on its screen, while the default controller configuration and performance passed.
- 4Switch the game language in SteamIn your Library, right-click Dressmaker, open Properties, then General, and pick English, Simplified Chinese or Japanese from the Language list. Close the game completely and start it again. If the text has not changed, look through the game's own settings menu as well.
- 5Follow the game for port newsThe team has posted its launch news and every patch so far in the game's announcements on Steam. Follow the game and those announcements show up in your Steam activity, so you will see anything the team posts there about a mobile or Switch release or a new language.

- Your PC meets the minimum requirements, including Intel UHD 630 graphics or better.
- On Steam Deck, you are fine with a Playable rating and controls that are still being improved.
- You know where news will appear: the store's language table and the game's announcements.
Keep every dress you make as a video on a Windows PC
DOR is a free Windows app. When you launch Dressmaker, it detects the game automatically and records the whole session until you close it, and the recordings collect in My Clips in the app.
That covers the slow parts of a build too, from the fabric shop to the last piece of trim, so afterwards you can trim out just the finished dress in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. For a vertical short, how to make a vertical game video walks through the framing.
In DOR Studio in your browser you can merge several clips from one build, add text and background music, then export an mp4 or share a dor.gg link that plays straight in a phone browser, which is handy while the game itself is not on phones. The same approach works for your other Steam games, covered in how to record Steam games.
