As of September 28, 2026, the Marvel Rivals developers have not published an official rank distribution for the current season, Season 10. So no official number tells you what top percentage your rank is in, and the percentages you see online are tracker estimates built from samples of public profiles. What the official documents do confirm is the rank order, the fact that One Above All means the Top 500, and the placement rules that have changed from season to season. This post covers those three points and the filters to check before you read any outside distribution. Building a ranked party and matching roles is a separate topic, covered in how to find a Marvel Rivals ranked party.
You cannot get an official top-percent answer right now
The developers do not release a distribution every season, and the Rank Rewards section of the Season 10 patch notes (posted 2026/09/09) only announces the Gold-tier costume. Treat any "Gold is the top X%" figure as an estimate, and look at how the sample was collected before you compare yourself to it. Two things are officially certain. First, One Above All is defined by headcount, the Top 500, not by a percentage. Second, your PC, PlayStation and Xbox ranks are saved separately, so they are different pools. For judging your own level, your match footage is a more honest source than a percentage built from someone else's sample. If you want to cut a long match down to the fights that mattered, see how to trim game clips.
Official rank order and Competitive rules compared
| Rule | Official rule (checked September 28, 2026) | Source document |
|---|---|---|
| Rank order (low to high) | Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Diamond → Grandmaster → Celestial → Eternity → One Above All | Season 3.5 patch notes |
| Divisions | III is lowest and I is highest (e.g. Celestial III → II → I). Celestial was added in Season 1 with 3 divisions | Season 1 patch notes (Version 20250110) |
| Top tier | One Above All = the Top 500 | Dev Talk Vol.10 (2025/02/11) |
| Season-start placements | First 10 ranked matches each season are Placement Matches. You see a predicted rank, then get your actual rank after 10. Finish in the first half and you keep it for the second half; unfinished placements mean no season rewards | Season 5 patch notes (Version 20251114) |
| Estimated starting rank | If you finished 10 placements and got a true rank in a previous season: last season's final rank minus 3 divisions (Celestial II and above start at Grandmaster II, Silver III and below at Bronze III). First-time placements use the higher of a last-season estimate (A) and a historical-best estimate (B, capped at Platinum II); players who never played 10 ranked matches in a season start at Silver III | Season 5 patch notes |
| How placements are judged | Each placement match tracks individual performance, not tied to teammates; after 10, rank is adjusted between -100 and +100 competitive points | Season 7 patch notes (Version 20260320) |
| Party size during placements | With anyone in placements: up to 3 players, rank gap under 3 divisions (party limits by rank bracket are covered in the post linked in the intro) | Season 5 patch notes |
| Ranks per device | PC, PlayStation and Xbox each keep their own battle data, rank and leaderboard. Rank rewards use your highest valid rank on any device | Cross-progression announcement (2025/09/24) |
| Rank rewards | One Gold-tier costume per half-season for 10 ranked matches and Gold or above (Season 10.0: Gorr the God Butcher - Gods' Graveyard). Crests of Honor and Nameplate Frames once per season, at season end | Season 5 and Season 10 patch notes |
| Past resets (history) | Season 1 dropped 7 divisions, Season 2 dropped 9, Seasons 3 and 4 dropped 7 each. Placement Matches replaced this from Season 5 | Season 1 to 4 patch notes |
Filters to check before trusting a tracker distribution
- Platform: PC, PlayStation and Xbox ranks are stored separately, so a chart that mixes devices cannot show where you stand on yours.
- Season and half: check whether the data is Season 9 or Season 10, and 10.0 or 10.5. Season 9 has ended; Season 10 has been live since September 11, 2026 (UTC).
- Placement players: during placements only a predicted rank is shown, so check whether those players were counted as if they had an actual rank.
- Minimum matches: the share in each tier shifts depending on how many matches an account needed to be included.
- Sample source: if only public profiles were collected, private accounts are missing and it is not the full player base.
- Collection date: early in a season placements are still running and the distribution keeps moving. Do not rely on a chart with no date.
- Cumulative or per tier: check whether "top X%" means your tier and everything above it, or just that single tier.
Getting ready for and playing your placements
- 1Check last season's rank on the device you play — Open Career and look at the rank for the device you actually play on (PC, PlayStation or Xbox). Ranks are saved per device, so using another device's rank will throw off your estimate. Under the Season 5 notes, if you finished 10 placements and got a true rank in a previous season, your estimated starting point is last season's final rank minus 3 divisions. If you have never finished placements, the first-time rule applies instead: the higher of a last-season estimate and a historical-best estimate, capped at Platinum II.
- 2Finish all 10 placements within one half — If you do not finish all 10, you get no season rewards. Finishing in the first half keeps that rank for the second half, and the half-season Gold costume needs 10 ranked matches in that half plus a Gold or higher finish. The Season 10.0 Gold reward is Gorr the God Butcher - Gods' Graveyard.
- 3Queue within the party rules — If anyone in the party is still in placements, the party is capped at 3 and the gap between the highest and lowest rank must be under 3 divisions. This limit only applies during the 10 placement matches, so if it blocks your usual group, finish your placements first and then go back to your normal lineup.
- 4Focus on your own performance — Since Season 7, each placement match tracks your individual performance, and after 10 matches your rank is adjusted between -100 and +100 competitive points. The official notes do not say how this combines with the Season 5 minus-3-divisions starting rule, so use the predicted rank shown in game as your reference.
- 5Know the penalty and cheater-report rules — An announcement on 2026/09/17 made matchmaking suspensions for repeat inactivity, throwing and leaving early progressively longer; if you were penalized because of a network or hardware failure, you can appeal through Customer Support. Version 20260528 announced a trial system that refunds the Ranked Points you lost when a cheater you reported is verified. Placement Matches award no points, so they are not covered, and you should check the latest patch notes to see whether the trial is still running.
Reviewing ranked games starts with a recording
A distribution chart only estimates where you are; it cannot tell you why you are stuck there. For that you need to watch your own games again. Marvel Rivals is a supported game in DOR, a free Windows app that detects the game when it starts and records the full match as an mp4. Marvel Rivals is not one of the games with automatic highlight clips, so you pick the moments to review from the full recording yourself. NVIDIA NVENC hardware encoding is the default, and game audio and your mic are recorded together, so you can hear your own callouts alongside the fight. Use the trim tool in the app library to set a start and end and export in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, or tidy the length in DOR Studio, which opens in the browser with nothing to install, then share it with your team as a dor.gg link. The DOR browser clip editor guide walks through the editor.
Official sources (checked September 28, 2026)
Every rule in this post was checked against the official Marvel Rivals website. The current season and Gold reward come from the Season 10 patch notes, placement and party-size rules from the Season 5 patch notes, and per-device ranks from the cross-progression announcement. The rank order is from the Season 3.5 patch notes, the Top 500 definition from Dev Talk Vol.10, and individual-performance placements from the Season 7 patch notes. Rules can change each season, so read the ranked sections (Competitive, Rank Rewards) of each new patch note first.
