If you have a stack of old Survivor, Wanderer or Desperado crates sitting in your PUBG inventory, the Update 44.1 patch notes are the ones to read.
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS first flagged the removal in its October Store Update on October 13, 2026, and the 44.1 notes published on November 3 added the full compensation table.
In short: some crates and the keys used to open them leave the game in Update 44.2 in December, whatever you still own at that point turns into BP, G-Coin or a Contraband Coupon Crate, and Steam Community Market trading for those items is scheduled to end with the November update.
That leaves two real options for each crate: open it yourself before 44.2, or hold it and take the fixed payout. This guide copies the official table item by item using the names PUBG uses, explains what the notes do and do not say, and lists what to check before December.
The PC live maintenance for 44.1 runs November 4, 00:00 to 08:30 UTC, which begins at 4:00 PM PST (7:00 PM EST) on November 3 in the US, and console follows on November 12. Update 44.1 also brings the IVE collaboration and Ranked Season 44, but this page sticks to the crate and key removal.
PUBG crate and key compensation table (44.1 notes, granted in December)
| Item (as named in the notes) | December compensation | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Gamescom Invitational Crate | 6,200 BP | The highest BP amount in the table |
| Random Crate (including Contraband Coupon Crate) | 3,600 BP + Contraband Coupon Crate x1 | The only row that adds an item on top of BP |
| Survivor, Biker, Desperado, Militia, Western Military and Raider crates | 3,600 BP | Same 3,600 BP group as the next two rows |
| Fall 2018 Crate, Season Crate 2019, Venetian, Fever, Triumph and Equinox crates | 3,600 BP | Same 3,600 BP cell in the official table |
| Aviator, East Erangel Police, Wanderer and Random crates | 3,600 BP | The Random Crate appears a second time here |
| Desperado, Weapon Skin, Aviator, East Erangel Police and Early Bird keys | 250 G-Coin | The five keys without the non-marketable tag |
| Weapon Skin, Aviator, East Erangel Police and Early Bird keys (non-marketable) | 3,600 BP | Same names, but non-marketable keys pay BP |
Open now or hold for compensation: what the notes actually confirm
The notes confirm four things. First, the removal happens in Update 44.2, which PUBG lists as scheduled for December; the exact date will come with the 44.2 notes. Second, compensation is based on the crates and keys you still own at the time of the December update, and it is granted in December.
Anything you open or use before then is no longer in your inventory, so by the wording of the notice it does not count toward compensation. Third, you can keep using these crates and keys normally until the December update, and PUBG explicitly tells players who want to open them to do so before then.
Fourth, Steam market trading for items scheduled for deletion is set to be restricted as of the November 2026 update, and PUBG warns that the restriction may take some time to apply for technical reasons.
The October Store Update described the payout as compensation matching the value of the removed items. So the choice per crate is simple: if you want a shot at the skins inside, open it with its key before 44.2; if you prefer a guaranteed amount of BP or G-Coin, leave it alone.
Crates that need a key use up that key when opened, so think about each crate and its key as a pair. Keys need extra care, because the same name pays differently depending on its tag: a regular Weapon Skin Key pays 250 G-Coin, while a non-marketable Weapon Skin Key pays 3,600 BP. Check the non-marketable label in your inventory before you decide.
How to sort your crates and keys before Update 44.2
- 1Find the affected items in your inventoryOpen your PUBG inventory and match every crate and key against the table above. If you have listed any of these crates or keys on the Steam Community Market, check those as well. For keys, the non-marketable tag decides whether the payout is G-Coin or BP.
- 2Decide what to open and what to keepOpen the crates whose skins you actually want before 44.2, and leave the ones you would rather convert. Opened crates and used keys are gone by December, so they are not part of what you own at the December update.
- 3Note the Steam Market cutoffMarket trading for items scheduled for deletion is set to end with the November update (44.1). PUBG says the restriction may take time to apply, so do not plan around the market staying open just because a listing still works today.
- 4Check the payout after Update 44.2When the 44.2 patch notes go live in December, confirm the removal date and how the compensation is delivered. Then check your BP and G-Coin balance, and look for the Contraband Coupon Crate if you held a Random Crate (including Contraband Coupon Crate).
- 5Play a match with your new skinIf a crate gives you a skin you like, take it into a match. With DOR running, PUBG matches are recorded automatically; setup and where files are saved are covered in how to record PUBG gameplay.
What to double check before the removal
- The removal happens in Update 44.2 in December; confirm the exact date in the 44.2 notes
- Compensation is based on what you still own at the December update and is granted in December
- Regular keys pay 250 G-Coin, while non-marketable keys with the same names pay 3,600 BP
- Steam Community Market trading for these items is set to stop with the November update, possibly with a delay
- Random Crates are on the 44.1 compensation table even though the October list did not include them
Opened a skin before the removal? Keep your first match with it
Pulling a skin you actually like from an old crate is a good excuse to queue up, and that first match is worth keeping. DOR is a free Windows app: leave it running, start PUBG, and it detects the game and records the whole match automatically.
When the match ends, its automatic highlight analysis goes through the recording and saves your kills, knocks and deaths as separate clips. Recordings and clips land in My Clips inside the app, so you never have to hit a button mid fight. For how DOR compares with other PUBG clipping tools, see the best PUBG clipping software.
You can trim any clip in the app to 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, or send a dor.gg link that plays right in a phone browser; the full flow is in how to share PUBG gameplay videos with friends.
