Riot has not published an official tier-by-tier rank distribution for Teamfight Tactics (TFT), as of our check on September 28, 2026. That means there is no official answer to 'what top percent is my rank?', and any distribution you see on a third-party site is a sample estimate built from the accounts that site has collected. This guide sticks to what Riot's own documents confirm: the ranked tier order, LP and demotion rules, decay for Master and above, the Set 18 reset, and the filters worth checking before you trust an outside chart. Bottom line: no official table, and one 2023 remark about percentages
None of Riot's current TFT documents list a player share per tier: not the Ranked FAQ on Riot Support (updated March 10, 2026), not the Double Up support page, not the Enchanted Wilds event page (updated August 26, 2026), and not the ranked update post or the 17.1 and 18.1 patch notes on the official TFT site. The only percentage Riot has put in writing is a passing line in a July 21, 2023 dev feature, 'Talking Tactics: Game Analysis Team', which puts Master through Challenger at roughly the top 0.5% to 2% of players depending on how far into a set you are. That range is three years old and is not a per-tier table, so it cannot stand in for current-set data. It also helps to know that the top tiers are capped by headcount rather than percentage: patch 17.1 (April 14, 2026) raised Korea from 600 to 850 Grandmaster slots and from 300 to 400 Challenger slots, and EUW from 400 to 600 and 200 to 300 (later patch notes may have changed these). What you can measure with certainty is your own placement history. In standard ranked a top-four finish never costs LP, so your recent top-four rate says more about your LP trend than any outside chart. Filters to check before trusting an outside distribution
- Server (region): Grandmaster and Challenger are capped per region, so top-tier shares differ from server to server.
- Queue: check that standard ranked and Double Up ranked are counted separately.
- Set and timing: confirm the data is from Set 18 and how many weeks after the August 26, 2026 (PT) ranked start it was taken.
- Sample scope: it is not official full-population data, so see whether the site explains which accounts are in the sample (looked-up or registered accounts, minimum game counts and so on).
- Unplaced accounts: check whether accounts that have not finished their five placements are excluded.
- Unit: tier-level or division-level, and cumulative 'top X%' or the share inside each bucket.
- Comparison period: make sure it is not mixed with sets from before Emerald was added.
Getting ready for Set 18 placements and the climb
- 1Confirm the current set and ranked start date — As of September 28, 2026 the live set is Set 18, Enchanted Wilds, and ranked opened on August 26, 2026 at 11:00 PT. The set launched with patch 18.1, published August 25, 2026. Riot notes that dates are subject to change, so check official announcements for the ranked end date instead of guessing it.
- 2Know where you restart — A new set applies a soft reset that pulls your MMR a bit closer to the median. In Set 18 the players who climbed highest last set start at Silver IV, and nobody starts lower than Iron II. Standard and Double Up ranked both follow this reset, and ranked is open from account Level 1.
- 3Play your five placement matches — During the five placement matches a bottom-four finish does not cost LP, and a top-four finish (top two in Double Up) earns bonus LP. Each placement match can award up to 100 LP. Riot has not published the bonus values or a formula for your starting tier, so any 'win X games to reach Y' math has no official basis.
- 4Set a goal under the post-placement LP rules — Once you are placed, 4th or better never loses LP and 5th or worse never gains LP. Ranked rewards start at Gold, and players who reached Gold or higher in Set 17, Space Gods, receive the Victorious Lumie reward, according to the patch 18.1 notes. Aiming for the Gold reward line is a clearer first target than chasing a percentile.
- 5Manage decay once you reach Master — Decay only applies to Master and above. You can bank up to 14 games, and one banked game is removed each day. When the bank is empty, every inactive day costs 50 LP in Master, 150 LP in Grandmaster and 250 LP in Challenger. Decay alone will not send you back to Diamond, but Grandmaster and Challenger can still be demoted a tier on results.
To review a ranked game, you need the recording
Without an official distribution, the evidence for climbing is your own games. Which round your health collapsed in, or which decision separated a 4th from a 5th, is clearer on video than in memory.
