Apex Legends System Requirements (2026): How Many GB, Minimum and Recommended PC Specs

Apex Legends on PC lists a minimum of 75 GB of free hard drive space, with minimum specs of a GTX 950-class GPU and 6 GB of RAM and recommended specs of a GTX 970-class GPU and 8 GB of RAM. These figures come from EA's official PC system requirements page and the Steam store page, checked on September 30, 2026, and they apply to the PC version only, not console or mobile. Neither source says whether 75 GB is the download size or the finished install size, so this guide treats it strictly as a free-space requirement. Official minimum vs recommended specs (checked September 30, 2026)

The short answer and the September 29 anti-cheat change

In short, keep at least 75 GB of free space on the drive, treat a GTX 950 or Radeon HD 7790 as the floor, and use a GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290 as your target if you want what EA describes as smooth 60fps gameplay. EA's page does not say what hardware you need for frame rates above 60. There is also a recent change. In an announcement dated September 24, 2026, EA said Apex on PC switches from Easy Anti-Cheat to EA Javelin Anticheat on September 29. You download the game update, launch, and the migration happens automatically, and at the time of that post the BIOS Secure Boot requirement seen in other EA titles did not apply to Apex. If your PC sits close to the minimum line, read recording games on a low-end PC before you add recording software on top.

How to check size and specs on your own PC

1. 1Read the two official listings — Open EA's PC system requirements page and the system requirements section of the Steam store page side by side. Both give storage as 75 GB and the OS as 64-bit Windows 10. Only the recommended CPU is worded differently, with EA listing an Intel i5 3570K or equivalent and Steam listing a Ryzen 5 equivalent, so if the listings differ, plan around the higher one. The EA table does not mention Windows 11, so avoid assuming official support.
2. 2Read your specs with dxdiag — Type dxdiag into the Windows search box and open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. If it asks on first launch whether to check for digitally signed drivers, Microsoft recommends answering Yes. The System tab shows your operating system, processor, memory and DirectX version, and your graphics card details are available on the display-related tab of the same window. Use Save All Information to keep a copy you can compare against the table. Apex is listed as needing a DirectX 12 compatible video card.
3. 3Measure free space on the target drive — Open Start > Settings > System > Storage and look at the drive where the game will live. 75 GB is a minimum amount of free space, so leaving a comfortable buffer is safer than clearing exactly that much. The store notice also warns that content updates may download automatically and need extra storage, so leave room for patches.
4. 4Free up space if you are short — Under Storage, open Cleanup recommendations and review Temporary files, Large or unused files, Files synced to the cloud and Unused apps before choosing Clean up. Storage Sense can also clear temporary files and Recycle Bin items automatically. If you install through Steam, go to Settings > Storage, use the plus button at the top to add a library on another drive, or select an installed game and choose Move. The EA app procedure for changing the install path could not be confirmed in official documentation, so it is not covered here.
5. 5Pick location and language on the install screen — In the EA app, select the arrow next to Apex Legends in your Library, check Install location and Language preferences, then continue. On Steam, search for Apex Legends, choose Play Game and then Install. Steam's requirements note adds roughly 3.8 GB for one localized language, so treat the size shown on the install screen as the final figure. An EA account is required, and the game is free on the EA app, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
6. 6Check the anti-cheat prompt after updating — If you are asked to download a game update before playing, install it and launch again. EA's general Javelin help article says it needs the Windows 10 20H1 update (version 10.0.19041) or newer, and it tells you to update Windows if you see the message that your Windows version is not supported. That is a general Javelin condition, not a line in Apex's own requirements table.

Final check before installing

• Windows is 64-bit and dxdiag shows DirectX 12.
• The graphics card is a GTX 950 or Radeon HD 7790 or better.
• RAM is at least 6 GB, and 8 GB or more if you are aiming for 60fps.
• The target drive has clearly more than 75 GB free.
• I checked the language setting and the size shown on the install screen.
• Windows is version 10.0.19041 or newer for the general Javelin requirement.

Leaving room for recording on top of the game

For Apex Legends, DOR records the full match automatically; it does not cut kill highlights by itself. If you want a particular moment, trim it in the app library with the range cut or in the browser-based DOR Studio and share it by link. On an NVIDIA graphics card, NVENC hardware encoding is the default, and game audio and your microphone are captured together.
