Short answer: as of September 28, 2026, Riot does not publish VALORANT's install size in GB. Neither the official specs page on playvalorant.com nor Riot Support's minimum and recommended specs article lists a storage requirement, and the only official size statement comes from Patch 11.02 (July 29, 2025), when the engine moved from Unreal Engine 4.27 to 5.3 and Riot said the patch download would be larger but the installation would take half its previous size on disk. So any fixed number you see online is a snapshot of some older build. The accurate answer for your machine is the size Windows reports for your own install. The bottom line: three things to check before the number
First, since there is no official GB figure, treat the size Windows shows for your own install as the current answer. Sizes can shift from patch to patch, so a number someone quoted months ago may no longer match. Second, the thing blocking your install or launch may not be storage at all. Windows 10 must be Build 19041 or later and 64-bit, Windows 11 also requires TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot, and Riot Vanguard has to stay active while you play. ARM processors, virtual machines and cloud gaming are not supported. Third, if your C: drive is full, something other than VALORANT may be taking most of the space. Find the real size and make room
- 1Check the size under Installed apps — Press the Windows key, search for Installed apps and open it. Find VALORANT in the list; if Windows shows a size next to it, that is what the game currently uses on your PC. Because Riot publishes no official GB figure, this is the most reliable answer you will get. If no size appears, use the folder method in the next step.
- 2Confirm with the install folder's Properties — Riot's support article uses C:\Riot Games as the install path. In File Explorer, right-click C:\Riot Games\VALORANT and choose Properties to see how much disk space it takes. If you installed to another drive, check the VALORANT folder there instead. The Riot Client has its own folder in C:\Riot Games.
- 3Turn on Storage Sense — Open Settings > System > Storage and turn on Storage Sense. By default it cleans temporary files and Recycle Bin items when disk space runs low. It only works on the system drive, usually C:, so it won't help much if the game lives on a different drive.
- 4Run Cleanup recommendations or Disk Cleanup — On Windows 11, Cleanup recommendations in the Storage settings lists files you can review and remove. On Windows 10, Disk Cleanup removes unnecessary files. Doing this before a big patch lowers the chance that an update stalls for lack of space.
- 5Move personal files off the drive — Microsoft's guidance is to move or delete personal files such as photos and videos to external storage, and to save new files to another drive. If you use OneDrive, Files On-Demand saves local space. Riot's articles don't describe a supported way to move the VALORANT install folder itself, so don't drag the game folder around by hand.
- 6Do a clean reinstall if problems persist — Riot's official steps: Windows key > Installed apps > uninstall the game; delete the VALORANT and Riot Client folders in C:\Riot Games; empty the Recycle Bin; press Win+R, enter %localappdata% and delete the Riot Games and VALORANT folders; restart the PC; then download the client from RiotGames.com and reinstall. After Vanguard installs, the Play button stays locked until you restart.
Does your PC meet the official specs?
- Typed dxdiag in the taskbar Search box, opened it, and checked the System tab for your operating system, processor, memory and DirectX version.
- On Windows 10, confirmed the build is 19041 or later and the system is 64-bit.
- On Windows 11, confirmed TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot are enabled.
- Confirmed the PC is not ARM-based and you are not playing through a virtual machine or cloud gaming service.
- Confirmed at least 4GB of RAM, plus at least 1GB of VRAM if you use a dedicated graphics card.
- Restarted the PC after installing Riot Vanguard for the first time or after turning it off.
- Checked free space on the C: drive. Riot lists no recommended free space, but it said the Patch 11.02 download would be larger.
Leaving room for match recordings
If you plan to record your matches once the game has room, the recordings will need space too.
