If you searched 'Valorant Tracker highlights not working', 'Valorant Tracker not recording highlights' or 'Valorant Tracker no sound', you are dealing with Valorant Tracker, the desktop app made by Tracker Network that runs on the Overwolf platform. That detail matters. Missing highlights, silent clips and FPS drops are rarely caused by the Tracker app on its own. They usually come from Overwolf's current support status for VALORANT, the overlay toggle, the capture (recording) settings, or another program running in the background. This guide takes the fixes listed in Overwolf's own support articles on overlay troubleshooting, common video capture issues, common sound capture issues and performance issues, and puts them in one order you can follow. It does not guess at how the Tracker app works internally; every step is something you can see and change on your own PC. Menu names can differ between versions and languages, and everything here was checked on October 16, 2026. One quick note before you start: making your Tracker profile private or public is a stats setting on the tracker.gg website and has nothing to do with recording, so check tracker.gg's own instructions for that. If you record with Insights Capture rather than Tracker and it stopped saving games, see Insights Capture not recording Valorant.
Bottom line: check Overwolf first, then split stats and recording if it still fails
If no highlights appear at all, first confirm that Overwolf currently supports VALORANT normally. Overwolf's support site shows a status for each game: yellow means some features in apps and highlights are unavailable, and red means apps and highlights are unavailable for that game. The first cause it lists is a game patch or update that needs adjustments on Overwolf's side. In that case there is nothing to fix on your PC and no need to contact support; you wait for the fix, and Overwolf notes that you can still record manually in the meantime. If the status is fine and highlights still do not record, the overlay or capture settings are the likely culprit, so work through the steps below in order. There is one more thing to check. Overwolf's store page for Valorant Tracker (version 1.32.12, checked October 16, 2026) lists agent select info, live match stats, lifetime and seasonal stats, match history, guides, Discord activity, an in-game overlay and second monitor support as its features, and highlight recording is not on that list. Instead, a 'Perfect pairing' section points to separate recording apps. If your copy of Tracker shows no Highlights or Capture option in its settings, stop fighting the settings and consider giving recording to another app: keep Tracker for stats and opponent info, and use a recorder that detects VALORANT on its own, records the match and clips kills and deaths. DOR is one of those apps, and you can see what it saves automatically in VALORANT on the DOR Valorant page. Whatever combination you choose, let only one app record at a time, because two recorders running together add up on your CPU and GPU.
How to fix Valorant Tracker highlights not recording, step by step
- 1Check Overwolf's status for VALORANTIf highlights stopped on or right after a VALORANT patch day, start with Overwolf's side. The support article 'Apps and Highlights Status Explanation' shows the event status for each game: yellow means some features are down, red means apps and highlights are unavailable. Wait for Overwolf to fix it and record any must-keep moments manually.
- 2Turn VALORANT on in the Overwolf overlayIn Overwolf settings, open 'Overlay & Hotkeys', find VALORANT in the game list and make sure its toggle is ON. If the game is missing, add it with the + button or launch the game once so Overwolf can detect it. If Tracker's in-game windows never show up, fix this step before looking at highlights.
- 3Check admin rights and fullscreen optimizationsRight-click OverwolfLauncher.exe in the Overwolf install folder, open Properties > Compatibility and tick 'Run this program as an administrator'. In the game's exe properties, untick 'Disable fullscreen optimizations' if it is ticked, click Apply and restart the game. Overwolf also says it cannot detect games installed in restricted system folders such as the Windows folder.
- 4Check the capture settings in Tracker and OverwolfIf Tracker's settings have a Highlights or Capture section, confirm that VALORANT recording is on and a save folder is set. If you cannot find such a section, your version may not include recording settings; see the bottom line above. In Overwolf's capture settings, set the preset to 'Default' or 'Automatic', lower the resolution and FPS if they are high for your PC, restart and test again.
- 5Rule out black screens and failed savesFor black or empty clips, update your graphics driver and restart. On a PC with both integrated and dedicated graphics, try 'Shared Texture Compatibility Mode' in Overwolf's capture settings. Only one Overwolf app can record at a time, so close other Overwolf recorders. Also check that the save drive is not full and that Windows Security's ransomware protection (Controlled folder access) is not blocking the folder.
- 6Fix highlights with no soundOverwolf's sound capture article starts with installing the latest sound drivers. If clips have no sound at all, close audio software such as Nahimic, Alienware Sound Center or Asus Sonic Radar and record again. If only your mic is recorded and game audio is missing, turn off Windows Sonic spatial sound or switch to another output device. If your mic is quiet, set the microphone volume to 100 in Windows sound settings.
- 7Reduce load when Tracker causes FPS dropsPer Overwolf's performance article, update graphics and sound drivers and Windows first, then make sure OBS, NVIDIA ShadowPlay or other recording or streaming software is not running at the same time. RivaTuner (RTSS), which often installs with MSI Afterburner, can conflict with Overwolf, and polling rates of 500 Hz and above can cause FPS drops that look like overlay problems. Lower the polling rate in your mouse software or install the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard.
Valorant Tracker not recording, no sound or FPS drops: causes and where to check (checked October 16, 2026)
| Symptom | Common cause | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| No highlights at all | Overwolf's Valorant status is yellow or red, often right after a game patch | Check Overwolf's status, wait for the fix, and record important moments manually meanwhile |
| Tracker overlay does not show in game | VALORANT overlay toggle off, missing permissions, or 'Disable fullscreen optimizations' ticked on the game | Overwolf settings > Overlay & Hotkeys, run OverwolfLauncher.exe as administrator, Compatibility tab of the game's exe |
| Black screen or empty clips | Outdated graphics driver, or a PC with both integrated and dedicated graphics | Update drivers and restart, then try 'Shared Texture Compatibility Mode' in capture settings |
| Recording fails or nothing is saved | Another Overwolf app is recording, the drive is full, or folder permissions or ransomware protection block it | Record with one app only, free up space, add the media folder as an exception or move it |
| No sound in highlights | Outdated sound drivers, conflicting audio software, Windows Sonic | Update sound drivers, close Nahimic and similar apps, turn off spatial sound, check mic volume |
| FPS drops or stutter | Capture resolution or FPS too high, other recorders open, RivaTuner, mouse polling at 500 Hz or more | Set the preset to Default or Automatic, close OBS or ShadowPlay, lower polling rate, update chipset drivers |
| You want to delete highlights | Clips keep piling up in the chosen save folder | Find the save folder in the app's or Overwolf's capture settings and clean it up there |
Check these before you switch recorders
- Overwolf's VALORANT status is not yellow or red.
- The VALORANT toggle is on under Overwolf settings > Overlay & Hotkeys.
- You checked whether Tracker's settings have a Highlights or Capture section, and if so, that it is turned on.
- Only one program is recording: OBS, ShadowPlay and other Overwolf recorders are closed.
- Sound drivers are updated, and Nahimic-style audio apps and Windows Sonic have been switched off for a test.
- You tested recording, sound and FPS in a custom game or a Deathmatch before queuing Competitive.
Alternative: keep Tracker for stats, record VALORANT with DOR
DOR is a free Windows recording app that you install separately from Overwolf. When you launch VALORANT it detects the game, records the match and saves kills and deaths as automatic clips. In Competitive, Unrated and Swiftplay, clips are labeled Double, Triple or Quadra Kill based on your kill streak, and when you win a round with an ace or a clutch, the last kill clip of that round gets an Ace or Clutch tag. Clips from modes such as Deathmatch are labeled Kill. The full match video has round chapters and event markers, so you can jump straight to the round you want. For moments the automatic clips miss, press F8 to save the last 30 seconds as a clip; you can set the length to 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds. While a match is being recorded, the clip key is not passed through to the game. Blackbox Record is on by default, so F8 also saves the last moment when nothing is being recorded, and F7 records your whole monitor until you press it again. DOR does not record the in-game replay screen automatically, so use F7 or F8 for that. Quality defaults to 1080p at 30 fps; 1440p and above or 120 fps and above are Pro features. Resolution, frame rate and clip length cannot be changed during a recording, so set them before the match. If you play on a stretched resolution such as 4:3, the recording aspect ratio can be set to 16:9, 16:10, 21:9, 32:9 or 4:3 (Valorant stretched resolution guide). On audio, the microphone and 'Record All Sounds' are on by default, so everything your PC plays, including game audio and Discord voices, is saved in one track; turn 'Record All Sounds' off to keep only the game window's sound plus your mic. Because tracks are not split, decide this before recording if you want Discord voices left out. Storage is handled by Automatic File Management (on by default, 30 GB), which deletes old videos while keeping favorited ones, and the save location is shown under File Save Path in settings. In My Clips you can trim a section and export it at 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, and if friends from the same match also recorded with DOR, Party Clip combines everyone's POV into one video. Know the limits too: DOR does not replace Tracker's info overlay, such as agent suggestions or live opponent stats. If you keep Tracker for stats and record with DOR, turn off recording in Tracker or any other app so only one app records.
