If you are about to buy R.E.P.O. and want to know whether it runs in your language, here is the short version: as of October 16, 2026 the Steam store page lists English as the single supported language, and Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese are not on that list. That is not the whole picture, because the developer has publicly started localization work and shipped an override mechanism in a patch. This article puts the dates in order: what the store says today, what semiwork has announced about localization, what the v0.4.2 override entry actually covers, and why there is still no official place to get language files. It does not cover third-party translation files, where to download them or how to install them. If language support is what decides the purchase for you, read the Steam refund rules before you pay. It is a co-op game you play with other people, and an English interface is far less of an obstacle when someone in the group has played before, so finding friends and parties for a game covers how to put a group together. The last section covers something practical for anyone starting in English anyway: how to go back to a shop or upgrade screen you only read once.
Bottom line: on October 16, 2026 the store lists English and nothing else
The supported-languages table on the store page shows one row, English, with the asterisk that marks languages with full audio support. That value was read from Steam store data on October 16, 2026, and it is the field to trust, because it is the first thing that changes when an official language is added. Three developer posts show the direction of travel. On February 20, 2026 a devlog said the studio had started work on localizing the game to different languages and asked players which languages they wanted. On March 6, 2026 a Q&A answered the offer of volunteer translators by saying the studio already had that side covered, while still asking which languages players want. On May 12, 2026 the v0.4.2 patch notes added, under Localization, support for overriding base localizations using TSV files in the StreamingAssets folder. Read that line precisely: it changes how the game can read its text, and it does not add a language to the store list. Because the studio said it is still collecting language requests, it is worth watching a community channel alongside the announcements, and how to find a game's Discord server covers picking an active one. No language list and no release date have been published, and the game is still in Early Access, so treat the store table as the answer on the day you buy.
How to check R.E.P.O. language support yourself
- 1Start with the supported-languages table on the store pageScroll down the Steam store page until you reach the supported-languages table. Checked on October 16, 2026, it holds one row, English, and the asterisk next to it marks languages with full audio support. Trust this table over community pages and video descriptions. When an official language is added, this is where it shows up first, so one look on the day you buy gives you the current answer.
- 2Read the announcements tab for localization postsOpen the announcements on the store page or in the community hub and look for three dated posts. The February 20, 2026 devlog announced that localization work had started. The March 6, 2026 Q&A answered questions about volunteer translators and Steam Workshop. The May 12, 2026 v0.4.2 patch notes contain the localization override entry. As of October 16, 2026 the newest post on that list is dated June 5, 2026.
- 3Read the v0.4.2 localization entry in the original wordingUnder Localization, the v0.4.2 patch notes say that support was added for overriding base localizations using TSV files in the StreamingAssets folder. You can find the game folder by right-clicking R.E.P.O. in your Steam library and browsing the local files from the manage or properties menu. The studio has not published a separate how-to document, so this article does not state any procedure beyond that single patch-note line.
- 4Check whether an official distribution channel existsIn the March 6, 2026 Q&A, the answer about Steam Workshop support was that it is not currently planned. Checked on October 16, 2026, the store page feature list has no Workshop entry either; it shows Single-player, Multi-player, Co-op, Online Co-op, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing and comfort options. In practice that means there is no in-game or in-Steam route to get official language files today.
- 5If you are starting in English, set up recording before you launchIf you decide to play in English anyway, get recording ready so you can revisit shop and upgrade screens later. DOR starts recording by itself when R.E.P.O. launches, and resolution, frame rate, clip length and hotkeys are set before launch. The defaults are 1080p, 30 fps, F8 and the previous 30 seconds. Check that full-session recording is on for R.E.P.O. under Settings and Games first: on by default on personal PCs, off by default in internet cafes.
- 6After the session, keep the screens you want to revisitWhen you close the game, everything from launch to exit lands in your library as one session video. Find the stretch where you were reading an upgrade description or an item name, then favourite it or cut it out with the trim tool. The quota for full-session videos is 5GB by default, and when that quota fills up the oldest session folder is cleared along with the F8 clips inside it, while favourited videos stay, so handle keepers the same day.

Check these before you buy or play
- Look at the supported-languages table again on the day you buy. This article was checked on October 16, 2026, and the game is in Early Access, so patches can change it.
- Open the newest announcement as well. When a language is added, it appears in the announcements and in the store table.
- Plan around an English interface: let whoever reads English comfortably handle the shop and upgrade screens while the rest of the squad carries valuables.
- If language support decides the purchase, check the refund conditions before you pay: under two hours played and within two weeks of buying.
- If you want recordings of your session, check that the DOR app is version 1.7.0 or newer and that full-session recording is on for R.E.P.O. under Settings and Games.
- Keep more than 20GB free on the drive that stores recordings. A warning appears below 30GB, and at 20GB or less recording does not start or stops.
Playing in English: getting back to shop and upgrade screens
DOR is a free recording app for Windows PCs. When it detects the R.E.P.O. executable (REPO.exe) it starts recording, and when you close the game it saves that session as a single video. Detection for this game ships in app version 1.7.0 and newer, and it is on by default on personal PCs and off by default in internet cafes. Playing with an English interface usually means reading an upgrade description or an item name once and moving on. Recording captures what is on your screen, so whether or not the game is translated makes no difference: that screen stays in the session video, and you can go back to it in your library afterwards. When you want a short section rather than the whole session, press F8 and the previous 30 seconds are saved as a separate clip; the length can be 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds and the hotkey can be changed, but both are set before you launch the game. Audio is recorded as a single track, and with record-all-sound on by default a voice call is captured together with the game, so check for other people's voices and names before you share a video. Keepers come from an F8 press or a trim you do yourself. DOR runs on Windows PCs, so this is the flow when R.E.P.O. is played on a Windows PC. If recordings fill the drive, see the fix for low disk space while recording.
