If you are searching for what Roblox error code 529 means, start with one fact: as of October 14, 2026, the official Roblox Help Center has no article about it. The official Roblox Error Codes page lists 264, 266, 267, 268, 270, 277, 279 (ID 17), 280, 403, 524, 600 and Failed to Load Library, and searching the Help Center for 529 does not bring up a related article. That same page says that if you cannot find your error code or message in the help articles, you should contact the support team. Many guide sites and gaming news sites describe 529 as a temporary problem on Roblox's server side, but Roblox has not published that explanation, so this guide does not treat it as the cause. Instead, it puts the tools the Help Center actually documents into a sensible order: the Roblox status page, the advice to wait and retry during outages, the basic checks from the connection-error articles, and contacting Support. The goal is to work out quickly whether the problem is only on your PC or account, or whether everyone is seeing it. That way you avoid reinstalling when waiting would have been enough, and you can move straight to device checks when the problem really is on your side. For the meaning of the codes that do have official articles, see Roblox error codes explained.
Short answer: before you try to fix anything, find out whether it is just you
With a code like 529 that has no official explanation, there is also no evidence that any single setting fixes it, so the order of your checks matters. First, look at the Roblox status page. If it shows an outage or maintenance, the Help Center's advice is simply to wait a moment and try again. If the status page looks normal, quit Roblox completely, sign out and sign back in. If nothing changes, compare other ways in: the website, the mobile app, or a different internet connection. If the error shows up on every route, changing settings on your PC is unlikely to help. If it only appears on one device or one network, you have narrowed it down to that device and its connection. Other codes that stop you from connecting do have official guidance. 277 (lost connection to the game server) and 279 (failed to connect to the game, ID 17) have step-by-step checks for each operating system, covered in how to fix Roblox error code 279. Code 524, which looks similar, is documented as usually meaning you do not have permission to join a specific experience or private (VIP) server, so it is a different case from 529. If there is no error window and you only see heavy lag or rubber-banding, your connection quality is a more likely culprit than an error code, so how to lower your ping in Roblox is the faster read.
What to check when error code 529 appears
- 1Record the error screen exactlyBefore you close the window, note the error code and message, the time, and the stage where it appeared: signing in, joining an experience, or partway through playing. The same 529 calls for different follow-up checks depending on when it appeared, and you will need these details if you contact Support later. On Windows, Win+Shift+S captures part of the screen; on a phone, use the device's normal screenshot. Also write down which device and which app you were using: the PC app downloaded from roblox.com, the Microsoft Store app, a web browser, or the mobile app.
- 2Check the Roblox status pageThe official Help Center article 'What happens when Roblox is down?' tells you to check the Roblox status page at status.roblox.com first. The page is in English, and when nothing is wrong the top reads All Systems Operational. Below that, components such as Website, Mobile App and Games are grouped under User, Player and Creator, and each working component shows Operational. Incidents are labeled with states such as Degraded Performance or Service Disruption, and the page also announces upcoming maintenance. The History (Last 30 days) section lists recent incidents, so you can tell whether a problem has just started or was already resolved. The same article says you can follow maintenance and service news through website notifications and the official Roblox account on X (Twitter), @Roblox.
- 3If there is an outage or maintenance, wait and retryAccording to the Help Center, while Roblox has an issue or is under maintenance, joining an experience may be delayed or fail, and the advice is to wait a few moments and try again. The website and apps may also feel slow. Reinstalling or changing settings is unlikely to help in that situation, so retrying every few minutes is enough. If you bought an item or Robux around the same time, the same article says purchases can be delayed during an outage and are usually applied within an hour and at most within 24 hours, so do not pay again right away.
- 4Quit Roblox completely and sign in againIf the status page is normal and you still see 529, the checks from here on are not something Roblox documents for 529. They are general checks that help narrow things down. After closing the Roblox window, open Windows Task Manager and make sure Roblox is not still running; if it is, select End task. On a phone, force close the app. Open Roblox again, sign out, sign back in, and try the same experience. Rather than retrying many times in a row, try once and note the result, because that makes the next decision easier.
- 5Compare a different way inTry the same account another way. If the error appeared in the PC app, check whether you can sign in to roblox.com in a web browser and whether the mobile app can join the same experience. Also try a different internet connection, such as a phone hotspot instead of your home Wi-Fi. The official connection-error articles for 277 and 279 also suggest switching to a different internet connection to see whether the issue persists. If every route shows the same error, suspect the account or the service rather than your device. If it only happens on one device or one network, suspect that device and its connection. If it only happens in one experience while others work, check that experience's announcements and try again later.
- 6If only one device is affected, run the basic connection checksThe official connection-error articles (277 and 279) and the Help Center article on third-party application and antivirus restrictions list the following checks. They are not specific to 529, but they help rule out causes on your device: uninstall and reinstall Roblox; after uninstalling, clear the app data folder at C:\Users\(your Windows username)\AppData\Local\Roblox; allow Roblox through Windows Firewall and your antivirus; make sure your router is not blocking UDP ports 49152 to 65535; and close third-party programs that can interfere with the connection, such as auto-clickers or other game launchers. On a phone, restart the device and make sure the date and time are correct. The Help Center also states that virtual machines and cloud-based computers are not supported, so if you play that way, compare on a regular PC. If you use a VPN, compare with it turned off as well.
- 7If it keeps happening, contact Roblox SupportThe official Roblox Error Codes page says that if you cannot find your error code or message in the help articles, you should contact the support team, and 529 is exactly that case. When you contact them, include the error code and message from the first step, when it happened and your time zone, your device and operating system, the app you used, your type of internet connection, and what you already tried in the other steps along with the results. Listing what you have already done saves you from receiving the same suggestions again. Use the customer support form on the official Roblox website, and do not respond to outside sites or messaging accounts that ask for your password.
What to check first, depending on when 529 appeared
| When 529 appeared | Check first | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| When opening the app or signing in | The Website and Mobile App components on the status page, and whether you can sign in to roblox.com in a browser | If an outage is shown, wait. If everything is normal, quit Roblox completely, sign out and sign back in. |
| Right after pressing the Play (▶) button to join an experience | The Games and Game Join components on the status page, and whether other experiences let you in | If every experience fails, compare other ways in. If only one experience fails, check its announcements and try again later. |
| Partway through playing | Whether friends on the same server were disconnected too, and the incident history on the status page | If several people dropped at once, it is probably not your device, so rejoin after a short wait. If only you dropped, check your connection quality. |
| On every device and network | The status page and the official Roblox account on X (@Roblox) | Wait and retry rather than changing device settings. If it lasts a long time, contact Support. |
| On one device or one network only | What happens when you switch to another internet connection, such as a phone hotspot | Run the Help Center's basic connection checks: reinstall, clear app data, add antivirus and firewall exceptions, and on a phone check the date and time. |
| Right after buying an item | Whether the status page shows an outage | Purchases made during an outage can be delayed and are usually applied within an hour, at most within 24 hours, so wait instead of paying again. |
| Status page is normal but it lasts more than a day | Whether you have worked through every check in the order below | Contact Roblox Support with your record of the error screen and a list of the checks you tried. |
Check these before contacting Support
- I recorded the error code, message, time and stage (sign-in, joining or mid-game), with a screenshot.
- I checked whether the relevant components on status.roblox.com are Operational and looked at recent incidents.
- While an outage was shown, I waited between attempts instead of retrying again and again.
- I fully quit Roblox, confirmed in Task Manager that it was closed, and signed out and back in.
- I compared at least one other route: the website, another device or another internet connection.
- For a single-device problem, I tried the official connection checks: reinstalling, antivirus and firewall exceptions, and closing third-party programs.
To keep what you play once you get back in: DOR
Error code 529 is not something a recording program can fix, and installing DOR will not make it go away. But if you want to keep what you play once you finally get back into an experience, you can have recording ready in advance, and the free Windows app DOR is one way to do that. DOR automatically detects the PC version of Roblox downloaded from roblox.com. It starts recording when you join an experience and stops when you leave it, either by returning to the home screen or by closing Roblox. It is on by default, so there is no record button to press, and it records any experience regardless of genre or creator, saving each experience as one full-length mp4 in your library with no length limit. Game audio and your microphone, with noise suppression, are recorded together by default. If you join an experience right after launching Roblox, the first recording can start 15 to 20 seconds after you join. If scrolling through a long recording is a hassle, press F8 (you can change it) while recording inside an experience to save the last 30 seconds as a separate clip, with 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds to choose from; how to clip Roblox walks through it. For how this compares with built-in Captures, Xbox Game Bar and OBS, see Roblox recording software compared. There are limits to keep in mind. DOR only records inside experiences, so an error window on the sign-in screen or the Roblox home screen is not recorded. Take a screenshot of the error for Support, as in the first step above. DOR is also a Windows PC app, so it cannot record Roblox on phones, tablets or consoles, and it is an option only when you play on PC.
