Key takeaways
  • Roblox renamed Groups to Communities in November 2024. You join from a community's page with the Join Community button: on the website through Communities in the left menu, in the app through More (...) and then Communities.
  • If you are not a member after pressing the button, check manual approval, the verification level, extra owner rules, the 100-community limit, and whether you were banned, in that order.
  • Xbox and PlayStation cannot join communities, so join on PC, Mac, or mobile. If an in-experience reward does not show up, leave the experience and join it again.

To join a community on Roblox, open the community's page and press Join Community. On the website, Communities sits in the left navigation; in the Roblox app for iPhone, iPad, and Android, tap the More (...) button at the bottom or on the left of the screen, depending on your device, and then tap Communities. If you are looking for Groups, you are in the right place: Roblox announced on its official Developer Forum on November 21, 2024 that Roblox Groups had been renamed Roblox Communities, so menus and buttons now say Community. When the button does not get you in, the cause is usually one of five things: the owner uses manual approval and your request is waiting, the community requires account verification you have not done, you already belong to the maximum of 100 communities, you were banned from that community, or you are trying from Xbox or PlayStation, where joining is not available. This guide is based on Roblox Help articles and Creator documentation checked on October 14, 2026. It walks through where the button is on each device, how to read what happens after you press it, the verification and limit rules, and why a community reward inside an experience may not appear right away. If you are still deciding which community to join, read Roblox Group Finder: search and join communities safely first.

Bottom line: if you did not get in, check approval, verification, the limit, bans, and your device

If you pressed Join Community and did not land in the member list, start with manual approval. According to Roblox Help, when an owner turns on Manual Approval, pressing Join Community sends a request to the owner, who reviews it under Configure Community > Members > Requests, and you only become a member once it is approved. Roblox does not publish a time limit for approval, and some owners add their own conditions, such as sending them a personal message first, so read the community's description and shout. If pressing the button opens an account verification prompt instead, the community has a Verification Level set. There are four levels, None (the default), Low, Medium, and High, and the steps below spell out what each one needs. The Roblox Help article on managing a community also lists an account age requirement among the join settings. If you need ID verification, how to complete the Roblox age check explains that flow. If you cannot join any new community at all, check the limit: one account can belong to up to 100 communities, so you have to leave one before joining another. If you cannot get back into a community you used to be in, you may have been banned. Roblox's November 2024 announcement says banned users cannot rejoin unless a community admin or moderator reverses the ban, and that Roblox will not issue or reverse bans made by community admins and moderators. Finally, the Xbox and PlayStation help pages say creating and joining groups is not available on console and should be done on PC, Mac, or mobile. Once you are in and want a place to play with other members, see how to make a Roblox private server.

How to join on PC and mobile, and what to check when it fails

  1. 1Open the community page on PCSign in at roblox.com and click Communities in the left navigation. From there you can view the communities you already belong to, search for and select another one, or create your own. There is no separate Groups menu anymore; it is the same feature under a new name. When you want the community behind a specific experience, search by the community's name rather than the experience title, then check the Experiences section on the community page to make sure the experience you know is listed there. That makes it easier to tell the real community apart from look-alikes with similar names.
  2. 2Find the Join button in the mobile appIn the Roblox app on iPhone, iPad, or Android, tap the More (...) button in the bottom bar or in the left navigation, depending on your device, then tap Communities. To find a community you are not in yet, type its name in the search bar under My Communities at the top right of the screen. Open the community and you will see the same Join Community button as on PC. App layouts can change with updates, so if the button is missing, update the Roblox app from your app store and look again.
  3. 3Press Join Community and read the resultThere are three possible outcomes. You become a member right away, and you are done. The community uses manual approval, so your request goes to the owner and you wait for approval. Or the community has a verification level, and Roblox asks you to verify your account first. While you wait, read the description and shout for extra conditions, such as sending the owner a personal message, which is the example Roblox Help gives. Roblox Help does not describe an approval deadline or a way to check or cancel a pending request.
  4. 4Complete verification if you are promptedA Low level needs phone, email, or ID verification; Medium needs ID verification or both phone and email; High needs ID verification. Phone numbers and email addresses are added and verified from your account settings, and ID verification uses the same government ID check that Roblox offers for age checks. The verification level only applies to people who are not members yet, so a friend who joined earlier may still be inside without verifying while you are blocked. If it is a child's account, talk with a parent before any ID check.
  5. 5Leave a community if you hit the 100 limitIf you already belong to 100 communities, leave one before joining a new one. On PC, open the community you want to leave and click Leave Community on the right side of the page, or choose Leave Community in the three-dot menu at the top right. Be careful with communities you own: if you leave one, you cannot regain ownership by rejoining later, and if you do not transfer ownership first, the community will be owned by no one. Keep those off your cleanup list or transfer ownership before you leave. Separately from the join limit, you can also create up to 100 communities of your own.
  6. 6Check in-experience join prompts and rewardsSome experiences show a join prompt while you play or give a reward to community members. That prompt is the same community join, so a manual-approval community will leave you with a pending request, and you will not be added if you do not meet the join requirements. If a reward does not appear, leave the experience and join it again. Roblox's Creator documentation explains that an experience may keep using the membership result it checked first, so your newest status may not show up right away. Rewards and their conditions are set by the experience creator, so if you still do not receive one, check the experience's announcements or the community's notes.

When a join fails: checks on your account and device

  • You are signed in to the account you want to join with, especially if you switch between several accounts.
  • You are using the website on PC or Mac, or the mobile app, not Xbox or PlayStation.
  • You belong to fewer than 100 communities right now.
  • You read the description and shout for manual approval and any extra join rules.
  • Your account has a verified email or phone number, and you know whether this community needs ID verification.
  • If you joined through a prompt inside an experience, you checked that the community actually appears in your Communities list on the website or under My Communities in the app.
  • You do not hand over Robux, items, account details, or outside contact info, even if it is presented as a join condition.
When several communities share a similar name or logo, look at the Experiences section on each community page and at whether the shout has been updated recently. Sending your request to the right community the first time saves you from waiting on one that nobody manages. Join requests are handled by the owner or members with permission, not by Roblox, so a request to an inactive community can stay pending for a long time.

Keep the whole session with your community on PC

After you join a community, you will probably play more with its members, whether at community events or on a private server. If you want to keep that session as video and share it with them, DOR can do that on PC. DOR is a free Windows PC app that automatically detects the PC version of Roblox downloaded from roblox.com (support for the Microsoft Store version has not been confirmed). Recording starts automatically when you enter an experience and stops when you leave it for the home screen or close Roblox. It records any experience regardless of genre or creator, and each experience is saved to your library as one full mp4 with no length limit. DOR does not record the Roblox home screen or menus such as the Communities page, and if you jump into an experience right after launching Roblox, recording can start about 15 to 20 seconds late. Your microphone is recorded along with the game sound by default, with noise suppression, so your own voice ends up in the video too. To keep only the moment that just happened, press F8 in the experience (you can change the key) to save the last 30 seconds as a separate clip; you can choose 15, 30, 45, or 60 seconds. In the library you can trim a recording, export it as 16:9, 9:16, or 1:1, and share it as a dor.gg link, and DOR Studio in your browser lets you merge clips and add text or background music. For long recordings, see how to record Roblox for longer than 30 seconds, and for saving moments, see how to clip Roblox. DOR does not pick kills or highlights for you in Roblox, so save the moments you want with F8 or trim them in the library. DOR is Windows-only and does not record Roblox on phones, tablets, Macs, or consoles; if you joined the community from your phone, turn DOR on when you play with the same account on PC.

FAQ

FAQ

Are Roblox Groups and Communities the same thing?

Yes. In an official Developer Forum post on November 21, 2024, Roblox announced that Roblox Groups had been renamed Roblox Communities, which is why the website, app menus, and join button now say Community. The same post said the Groups name would continue for a separate creator collaboration product inside Creator Hub. Some pages, such as the Xbox and PlayStation help articles and the documentation for experience creators, still use the word group, but for a player, the thing you join is a community.

What is the max number of communities you can join on Roblox?

100. Roblox Help's How to create a Community article, checked on October 14, 2026, says a player can join up to 100 communities and create up to 100 of their own, at 100 Robux per new community. The article does not list a higher limit for Premium or Roblox Plus. Roblox Premium stopped being sold on April 30, 2026, when the new Roblox Plus subscription launched, and the Roblox Plus benefits list does not mention community limits either. If you are at 100, leave one before joining another.

How long does a pending join request take?

It depends on when the owner, or a member with permission, reviews requests. Roblox Help does not give an approval deadline or a way to track the request. Meanwhile, follow any conditions in the description or shout, such as messaging the owner. If the owner turns off manual approval, pending requests are accepted automatically. If nothing changes for a long time, look for an active community as well.
