Steal a Brainrot is a Roblox experience built around brainrot characters that come from internet memes. The basic idea is to buy brainrots, keep them in your base, and use the money they earn to buy pricier ones or to steal brainrots from other players' bases. It was created on May 16, 2025 by BRAZILIAN SPYDER, a creator with a verified badge. As of October 14, 2026, it had about 74 billion visits and about 90,000 concurrent players in a weekday snapshot. Third-party trackers reported that it passed 25 million concurrent players in October 2025, although the exact figure differs from tracker to tracker. It is widely reported to have spread on TikTok and YouTube through strategy videos and reaction clips, and with meme characters and sudden swings of stealing and losing packed into a few seconds, it produces plenty of Shorts material. This is not a codes list or a tier list. It covers how to record rare pickups, last-second steals and base defense comebacks without missing them, and how to turn them into vertical Shorts. For a different stealing-genre experience where you steal and hatch pets' eggs, see our Steal An Egg Roblox guide. Experience details were checked on October 14, 2026. The experience was last updated on October 13, 2026 and changes often, so details may change.
Bottom line: steals are over in seconds, so keep recording on and save right after the brainrot reaches your base
How you capture Steal a Brainrot moments depends on where you play. According to its creator, the experience supports desktop, mobile and tablet. Roblox's built-in Captures work on desktop and mobile, but a video capture starts when you tap the capture icon, runs for up to 30 seconds, and does not record voice chat or in-experience sound (official Help Center, checked October 14, 2026). Most of the moments worth keeping in this experience come without warning and are over in seconds. When you run off with a brainrot from someone's base or slap a thief out of your own base, the moment is over before you could reach for the icon. The meme sounds and your friends' screams are half of the moment, too, so a silent clip is hard to use as a Short. That is why on PC the approach that works is to keep the whole session recording and press a hotkey right after the moment to save the last stretch as its own clip. We compare tools that save what just happened with a single key in how to clip Roblox on PC. If you play on a phone or tablet, you will use Captures or your device's screen recorder; see how to record Roblox on mobile for each device. Developers can turn off captures in their own experience, so if the capture icon is missing, it may be that experience's setting.
How to turn Steal a Brainrot moments into Shorts
- 1Find the real experience by its creator nameSearch Roblox for Steal a Brainrot and check that the creator is BRAZILIAN SPYDER with a verified badge before you join. Because it is so popular, there are many experiences with similar brainrot names, so checking the creator is the safe way to confirm it. A server holds up to 8 players according to the experience details, and the experience lists separate places such as a Trade Plaza, a Duel Server and New Players Servers. If you plan to record with DOR, launch the PC version downloaded from roblox.com.
- 2Know where the moments come from: buy, steal, earn, rebirthThe creator's description lists five things to do: buy a brainrot, steal brainrots from other players, generate money, rebirth, and buy slaps and troll gear to troll other players. Guide sites consistently describe buying brainrots with in-game cash as they pass along a line in the middle of the map, then placing them in your base, where they keep earning money over time. Rebirth is known as the step that resets what you have collected in exchange for restarting on better terms. There is no official creator document listing odds by rarity, spawn timing or codes, so this guide does not cover them.
- 3Know when a steal or a defense is decidedThe fun of Steal a Brainrot is in stealing and defending. Guide sites consistently describe a lock (shield) button that keeps thieves out of your base for a while, explain that a stolen brainrot only becomes yours once you carry it back to your own base, and note that you can lose it if the owner hits you on the way. Guide sites give different numbers for things like lock duration, and some say they change with rebirths and updates, so check the numbers in the experience. Once you know this flow, you can see what to record: the moment a lock runs out, the moment someone walks into your base, and the chase as someone runs off are each a Short on their own.
- 4Check that meme sounds and friends' reactions get recordedMoments arrive without warning, so start your PC recorder before you join. In this experience the meme sounds and your friends' reactions are half the moment, so do a short test to confirm that game audio and your mic are both recorded. If you talk with friends on Discord, decide whether their voices should be recorded too, and let them know in advance that clips may be posted. To use Roblox voice chat you must be 13 or older and complete age verification, and the experience must support voice chat (official Help Center, checked October 14, 2026). The experience's place list also includes a place named VC Servers.
- 5Press the hotkey after the stolen brainrot reaches your baseA clip feature that saves the last few seconds works backward from the moment you press the key. So you can press it after the stolen brainrot reaches your base or after you knock the thief away. For a short steal, start with the default 30 seconds, and if you want the whole chase, raise the clip length to 45 or 60 seconds. If several moments happen back to back in one session, it is safer to cut them later from the full recording than to keep pressing the hotkey.
- 6Cut long flows like rebirths and trades from the full recordingFlows that take several minutes, such as a before-and-after around a rebirth, a trade in the Trade Plaza, or a plan with friends to raid someone's base, fit better as cuts from the full session recording than as hotkey clips. If you kept recording on, you can still find moments you did not press the hotkey for. Leave a few seconds on each side so the context survives, and pick on the rule of one moment per video.
- 7Cut to 9:16 and add text and music for ShortsExport 9:16 vertical for Shorts, or 16:9 for a regular YouTube video. A vertical crop cuts off the sides, so choose a range and position that keep your character, brainrot in hand, in the middle of the frame. Pull the start point in so the first one or two seconds show what is being stolen, and add a short line of text such as the rare brainrot's name or a last-second comeback so the situation lands right away. Use only background music you have the rights to, and check again before posting any scene where other players' names or chat are clearly visible.
Steal a Brainrot Shorts templates: structure and how to capture each moment
| Moment | Shorts structure (opening and length) | How to capture it |
|---|---|---|
| Getting a rare brainrot | Open on the rare brainrot appearing in the line, then keep it short, about 15 to 20 seconds, ending once you buy it and place it in your base. | You cannot tell when one will appear, so keep recording on while you wait and save the last 30 seconds with the hotkey right after you place it. |
| A last-second steal from another base | Make the moment you pick up the brainrot the first shot, then cut the chase and your arrival at your base into 20 to 30 seconds. | You can save it after you reach your base; if the chase may run long, raise the clip length to 45 or 60 seconds beforehand. |
| A base defense comeback | Show the moment you almost lost it first and end on getting it back, so the twist lands. | Save right after you knock the thief away. Your friends' voices will be in it, so get their OK before posting. |
| Trolling with slaps and troll gear | Make a short 10 to 15 second reaction and cut it so the end flows into the start for looped replays. | Sound is the point, so capture it with a PC recording that keeps both game audio and your mic, and check other players' names before posting. |
| Right before and after a rebirth | Build a before-and-after: your base just before everything resets next to the base you restart with. | You know it is coming, so raise the clip length to 60 seconds or cut generously around it from the full recording. |
| A plan with friends or a Trade Plaza trade | Compress a few minutes into 30 to 60 seconds with three beats: setup, crisis and payoff. | It is too long for a hotkey clip, so cut several pieces from the full recording and join them. |
Check before you record Steal a Brainrot
- On PC, you launched the version of Roblox downloaded from roblox.com (DOR support for the Microsoft Store version, Roblox - Windows, has not been confirmed).
- Your recorder is on and you have enough free storage for a long session.
- You pressed the clip hotkey once and confirmed it does not clash with your in-experience controls.
- You ran a short test to confirm game audio and your mic are both recorded, and decided whether to include friends' voices from Discord.
- Friends playing with you know their voices and gameplay may end up in a Short.
- If you use Captures, you know they top out at 30 seconds and record no sound.
Auto-record Steal a Brainrot with DOR and save steals with F8
DOR is a free Windows PC app that automatically detects Roblox when you run the PC version downloaded from roblox.com. Recording starts automatically when you enter an experience and stops automatically when you leave it to go back to the home screen or close Roblox. This is on by default, and you can turn it off with the Full Game Recording toggle in settings. Each experience you join becomes one full mp4 recording in your library, and moving to another place inside the same experience, such as the Trade Plaza or a Duel Server, usually continues in the same recording. DOR does not record the Roblox home screen, and if you jump into an experience right after launching Roblox, recording can start 15 to 20 seconds late, so do not count on catching a big moment in your first few seconds. Unlike Captures, there is no length limit, so a whole session is kept, with game audio and your mic (with noise suppression) recorded together by default. With the desktop audio setting on, friends' voices coming through Discord are kept too, and you can switch it so only Roblox audio is recorded. Game audio and your mic are mixed into one track, so balance your voice level before you record. When a last-second steal ends, press F8 (you can change the key) and the last 30 seconds are saved as a separate clip; you can choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds. This hotkey works only while you are inside an experience and recording, and no notification appears on the game screen when a clip is saved, so check the result in the library. Roblox has no automatic highlight clips that pick out rare pickups or steals for you, so you save moments yourself with F8 or trim them yourself in the library. Recordings show up in the library as Roblox recordings rather than by experience name, so tell sessions apart by their recording time. In the library's Trim Section tool, choose 9:16 to get a vertical video and share it as a dor.gg link. Text in Trim Section is available only at 1:1, so to put text and music on a 9:16 frame, move to DOR Studio (dor.gg/studio), which opens in your browser with nothing to install. In Studio you can merge several clips, use effect templates such as punch zoom and shake zoom, add text with a choice of fonts, background music and volume, then download an mp4 or share a link. Videos must be at least 3 seconds long and no larger than 500MB, and there is a limit on the number of videos per project. For the full path from clip to upload, see how to make Roblox Shorts, and for experience music and background music rights, see Roblox music copyright on YouTube. Quality defaults to 1080p at 60 fps and goes up to 2160p. DOR is Windows PC only and does not record Roblox on phones, tablets, Mac or consoles.
