Key takeaways
  • Starting a Roblox channel depends on age and account, not subscribers. The minimum age to manage your own Google Account is 13 in most countries (14 in South Korea, 15 in Vietnam); younger kids use supervised accounts, which can't create a channel, upload or live stream.
  • Roblox's built-in video capture lasts up to 30 seconds and doesn't record voice chat or in-experience sound, so it can't carry a commentary video. Pick one experience as your topic and record full sessions with your mic on PC.
  • Roblox's help center allows monetizing gameplay videos that contain in-experience APM licensed music on YouTube, and restricts general use of the Roblox logo outside the official badge. Video Stars is a later goal, with bars such as 100,000 subscribers.

Becoming a Roblox YouTuber is simpler than it looks: confirm you meet the age and account rules, choose one experience as your topic, record whole sessions on PC with your own voice, and cut them into long videos and Shorts. Roblox channels do have three checks that other gaming channels rarely deal with. First, many creators and viewers are young, so the age to open a channel and the made-for-kids setting come before anything else. Second, Roblox's built-in capture records 30 seconds at most and leaves out your voice and the game sound, so it can't be the source for a commentary video. Third, Roblox publishes its own rules for music and for its logo. This guide follows Roblox's help center plus YouTube and Google help pages as checked on October 14, 2026, and walks from the prep before you create a channel to your first upload and the thresholds for Video Stars, Roblox's official creator program. It also answers the mobile question: what works on a phone and what gets hard. If you already have footage and want vertical videos first, read How to Make Roblox Shorts alongside this one.

Bottom line: check age and account, pick one experience, record on PC, then check Roblox's rules

You can start a Roblox channel today with zero subscribers. The real entry requirement is age. Google sets the minimum age to manage your own account at 13 in most countries, 14 in South Korea and 15 in Vietnam. Below that age, kids use YouTube through a supervised account managed by a parent, and supervised accounts can't create a channel, upload videos or live stream. In that case, the realistic options are a channel a parent manages, or practicing recording and editing until you are old enough. Roblox's Video Stars program is not a starter program either. You need to clear one of three bars: 100,000 subscribers and an average of 25,000 views on long-form videos over the last six months, 100,000 subscribers and an average of 50,000 views on short-form videos, or 10,000 followers and an average of 300 concurrent viewers on livestreams. Treat those numbers as a target, not a gate. English is one of the eligible languages. On money, what Roblox states in writing is that gameplay videos containing APM licensed music that plays inside an experience can be monetized on YouTube with ads, donations, subscriptions and similar revenue. Music you add yourself falls outside that permission, so check Roblox video copyright and music monetization, and look up YouTube Partner Program requirements separately in How to Monetize a Gaming YouTube Channel. If you only have a phone, you can still begin, but built-in capture leaves you with silent 30-second clips, so talking over a full session is far easier to record on PC.

How to start a Roblox YouTube channel, step by step

  1. 1Check age, account and the made-for-kids settingBefore creating a channel, check whether you are old enough to manage your own Google Account: 13 in most countries, 14 in South Korea, 15 in Vietnam. Younger kids on supervised accounts can't create a channel, upload or go live, so decide with a parent how the channel will be run. When you upload, YouTube requires every creator to say whether a video is made for kids and tells you not to rely on its systems to decide. It also explains that featuring characters or simple games popular with children does not automatically make a video made for kids. Roblox audiences skew young, so decide who each video is for before you post it.
  2. 2Narrow your channel to one experienceRoblox has countless experiences in completely different genres, and a channel that jumps between them is hard for viewers to remember. For your first few months, stick to one experience, or one genre such as horror, obby or roleplay. On October 14, 2026, Roblox's official popularity charts had Steal An Egg, Adopt Me!, Blox Fruits, Murder Mystery 2, 99 Nights in the Forest, Steal a Brainrot and RIVALS near the top by concurrent players, and 99 Nights in the Forest led the trending chart in South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. Rankings, updates and events change often, so it matters more to pick an experience you know well and can keep playing for months.
  3. 3Choose how to record: built-in capture vs PC recordingRoblox has a built-in video capture: open the in-experience menu in the top-left corner and choose Captures. According to Roblox's help center, videos last up to 30 seconds, voice chat and in-experience sound are not recorded, and the in-experience UI and the names above avatars are removed. Videos are kept in Roblox app storage first; you tap the save icon to copy one to your desktop Videos folder or your phone's camera roll. Developers can also turn capture off in their experience. That is fine for short silent moments, but it can't hold a full commentary session. For your main videos, record the whole session with sound using a recorder on PC.
  4. 4Set up your mic for commentaryA commentary channel's personality comes from your voice more than the picture. A headset mic or a single USB mic is enough to start; keep it close to your mouth and away from the keyboard so typing noise stays low. Before recording, talk for about ten seconds and play it back to compare your voice with the game sound, and lower the game volume if your voice gets buried. If Roblox voice chat is on, other players' voices can end up in the recording too. Roblox voice chat itself is available only to accounts aged 13 or older that have completed an age check (ID or facial age estimation).
  5. 5Split each session into a long video and ShortsIf you record an experience from start to finish, you can make two kinds of video from the same footage. For long-form, group one run or one day of play under a theme, such as a first attempt at clearing 99 Nights, and trim it to around ten minutes. For Shorts, cut single moments, like a jump-scare reaction, a rare item drop or a comeback, into 9:16 vertical clips. Letting Shorts introduce the channel and long videos keep people watching means one recording gets used twice. Finding usable moments in long footage takes the most editing time, so get used to marking funny moments while you are still recording.
  6. 6Keep the Roblox logo off thumbnails and channel artRoblox's Name and Logo Community Usage Guidelines restrict general use of the Roblox logo and the Tilt (the tilted square mark) in creative materials outside the official badge, and say logo use is limited to select partners and the Roblox Stars Influencer Program. Implying an official partnership with Roblox or an endorsement is also on the don't list. The guidelines don't specifically cover video titles or channel names, but the safe approach is to build thumbnails and channel art from gameplay scenes, your avatar and big text instead of the logo, and to choose a channel name that doesn't read like an official Roblox channel. The guidelines also don't allow the Roblox name or logo on physical products or commercial content without a Roblox licensing agreement, so check separately before making merchandise.
  7. 7Check the music, upload, and track the Video Stars metricsBefore uploading, check the music in your video. APM licensed music that plays inside an experience can be monetized on YouTube as long as it stays with the gameplay, and if you get a copyright claim you can dispute it by citing Roblox's help article Using Licensed Music in Videos. Roblox doesn't guarantee the dispute will succeed, and pulling the music out to use in other videos is not allowed. After you upload, keep a record of subscribers, six-month average views and live concurrent viewers, the same metrics Video Stars uses, so you can see how far you are from the bar.

Official rules for Roblox YouTubers (checked October 14, 2026)

ItemWhat the official page saysWhat it means for your videos
Channel age (Google, YouTube)The minimum age to manage your own Google Account is 13 in most countries, 14 in South Korea and 15 in Vietnam. Supervised accounts for younger kids can't create a channel, upload or live stream. If you are too young, run the channel through a parent or practice recording and editing first.
Made-for-kids setting (YouTube)Every creator must set whether their videos are made for kids and should not rely on YouTube's systems to decide.A game being popular with children does not automatically make a video made for kids, so decide video by video.
Built-in video capture (Roblox)Up to 30 seconds; voice chat and in-experience sound are not recorded; UI and names above avatars are removed; developers can turn it off.Good for short silent moments. Record full commentary sessions on PC.
Moments (Roblox, beta)Ages 13 and up, up to 10 posts a day, no externally edited files, and every post is moderated.A way to promote experiences inside Roblox, separate from your YouTube footage.
Licensed music (APM)Videos with in-experience APM music kept with the gameplay can be monetized on YouTube through ads, donations and subscriptions. Using the music on its own is not allowed. You can dispute a claim by citing the help article, but success isn't guaranteed.
Name and logo guidelinesThe logo and Tilt are restricted from general creative use outside the official badge, and implying an official partnership or endorsement is not allowed.Use gameplay scenes and your avatar on thumbnails and channel art instead of the logo.
Video StarsOver the last six months: long-form 100,000 subscribers with 25,000 average views, short-form 100,000 with 50,000, or livestream 10,000 followers with 300 average concurrent viewers. Open to six languages including English, Japanese and Korean.A growth target, not a starting requirement. The criteria can change.

Before you post your first video

  • You are at least the Google Account age for your country (13 in most countries, 14 in South Korea, 15 in Vietnam), or a parent manages the channel.
  • You have picked one experience, or one genre, as the channel's topic.
  • Your footage covers the whole session, not 30-second captures, and your voice is in it.
  • You have checked that other players' names and voices in the footage won't cause problems.
  • Your thumbnails and channel art don't use the Roblox logo, and nothing looks like an official Roblox channel.
  • The music is either in-experience licensed music or a track you have the rights to use.
  • You set the audience (made for kids or not) yourself when uploading.
Record long, publish short. The first session after an experience update or event can't be recorded again, so even if you haven't decided what to post, record the whole session; you can then use that day's reactions in both a long video and Shorts. Guides, on the other hand, go out of date quickly after updates, so put the date or update name in the title and description to help viewers judge whether the information is current.

Recording Roblox commentary with DOR

DOR is a free Windows PC app that automatically detects the PC version of Roblox downloaded from roblox.com. Recording starts on its own when you enter an experience and stops when you leave it, either by returning to the home screen or by closing Roblox, so there is no record button to remember. This is on by default and can be turned off with a toggle in settings. It records any experience regardless of genre or creator, and each experience becomes one full-length mp4 in your library. Unlike built-in capture, the whole session is kept with no length limit, and your mic is recorded along with it by default, with noise suppression applied. Game sound and mic are saved mixed into one track, so balance the two levels before you start. Depending on your settings, you can capture only Roblox's sound instead of all desktop audio. Quality defaults to 1080p at 60fps and goes up to 2160p. On your first join, recording can start 15 to 20 seconds late, so if the moments right after loading matter, wait a moment before you start playing. DOR doesn't cut automatic kill or highlight clips for Roblox, but while you are recording inside an experience, pressing F8 (you can change it) saves the previous 30 seconds (choose 15, 30, 45 or 60) as a separate clip, which marks a Shorts candidate right away. The details are in How to Clip Roblox. In the library you can trim a section, export it at 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, and share a dor.gg link, and in the browser-based DOR Studio you can merge several videos, add text, background music and effect templates, and download an mp4. DOR does not record Roblox on phones, tablets, consoles or Mac, so treat it as the option for when you play on PC, and see How to Record Roblox on Your Phone for mobile.

FAQ

FAQ

Can I become a Roblox YouTuber on mobile?

Yes, you can start. Roblox's built-in capture works on both desktop and mobile, but it records 30 seconds at most without voice or in-experience sound, so commentary needs another method, such as your phone's own screen recording feature. Long phone recordings can run into storage and heat limits, so if you have a PC, recording the whole session with your mic there makes editing easier. DOR is Windows PC only and does not record Roblox on phones.

Can a kid under 13 start a Roblox YouTube channel?

Not on their own. In most countries you must be 13 to manage your own Google Account (14 in South Korea, 15 in Vietnam), and YouTube's supervised accounts for younger kids have channel creation, video uploads and live streaming turned off (checked October 14, 2026). The realistic routes are a channel a parent manages, or practicing recording and editing until you are old enough. Inside Roblox, voice chat and Moments are also limited to ages 13 and up, so younger creators are better off recording their own commentary through a mic than relying on voice chat with other players. Either way, the made-for-kids setting has to be chosen by hand at upload.

How do I join the Roblox Video Stars program?

The help article Roblox Video Stars Program links to the application. Roblox invites creators based on viewership and engagement, and you must meet at least one minimum: long-form (100,000 subscribers, 25,000 average views over the last six months), short-form (100,000 subscribers, 50,000 average views) or livestream (10,000 followers, 300 average concurrent viewers). It is open to creators working in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Japanese and Korean, and the criteria can change. Members must disclose their relationship with Roblox inside the video itself, not just in the description.
