Space Marine 2 records automatically: install DOR, launch the game, and AI handles it. Its full name is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. DOR detects the game as it starts and records from the Battle Barge lobby through to the Operation debrief. Chainswording through a screen full of Tyranids, parrying a Warrior's blow into an execution and Titus's campaign cutscenes all end up in the recording. This guide covers setup, saving swarm fights and parries, finding squad calls, building class montages, sharing, and fixing frame rate problems.
- Keep a whole Operation, from drop in to mission complete, as one video, along with replayed campaign cutscenes.
- Clip a perfect parry execution on a Warrior or a Heavy bolter mow down right after it happens.
- After a failed Lethal run, revisit squad calls like 'swarm incoming back to back' with AI Voice Notes.
- Make a class montage of nothing but Assault jump pack slams with AI Highlight.
Before you record Space Marine 2: install and recording mode
All you need is DOR, a free Windows app that adds no watermark. This guide covers Space Marine 2 for PC, launched from Steam. Recording works per session, so moving between the campaign, Operations and Eternal War stays in one video until you quit, and with no recording time limit, long Siege runs are recorded to the end. Space Marine 2 is heavy on the graphics card, and frames and recording both stay steady on PCs at or above the recommended spec. Start at the default 1080p and 30fps, and if frames get tight when a swarm fills the screen, switch to the lighter 720p/30fps mode. How hands free automatic recording works is in DOR automatic game recording.
| Item | For Space Marine 2 | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install DOR | Free Windows app | No watermark on videos |
| Game version | Space Marine 2 for PC, launched from Steam | Detected automatically when the game opens |
| Recording mode | Session recording: one video from launch to exit | Cutscenes, combat and long Siege runs all continue |
| Sound | Game audio and your mic recorded together | Voice chat playing through PC audio is included |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30fps by default, 60fps available | The game is GPU heavy, so use 720p/30fps mode when frames are tight |
Record Space Marine 2 with DOR: step by step
- 1Install DOR and leave it runningInstall DOR and open it once; it then waits in the background for the game. If you run co op Operations with your squad on Discord, check that DOR picked the right microphone.
- 2Launch Space Marine 2Start the game from Steam and DOR detects it and starts recording. Capture begins while you pick a class and weapons on the Battle Barge, so your loadout is on record too.
- 3Check that it is recordingBefore your first drop, open the DOR app once on the Battle Barge to confirm it is recording. Recording uses GPU hardware encoding, so a swarm fight where Tyranids cover the screen adds little load.
- 4Clip right after an execution or a holdRight after you parry a Warrior into an execution, or hold the final defense point of an Operation, press the clip save shortcut. The last 30 seconds become a clip and the session recording keeps going.
- 5Quit and check My ClipsWhen you close the game, the recording and your saved clips appear in My Clips. Check that the final holdout of today's Operation was captured.
Find your recordings
Recordings collect in My Clips, the library in the DOR app. Each launch and quit makes one recording, and clips saved with the shortcut are listed separately. In a recording with several Operations, the return to the Battle Barge marks the boundary between them. If you replayed campaign missions, the cutscenes are in the recording too, so you can trim them out and keep them on their own. Trim any scene by setting a start and an end, then export in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. Like the runs you want to keep, such as a Lethal clear. When space fills up, older videos you have not liked are cleared first, so that run stays. Exporting in different ratios is covered in export clips from DOR.
Save the moments you want to keep
The clip save shortcut keeps the stretch of play just before you press it. The default is 30 seconds, with 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds available. A single perfect parry into an execution fits in 15 or 30 seconds. When a swarm crashes in and you hold back to back, then turn it around with executions that refill your health, use 45 or 60 seconds so the moment the swarm arrives is included. In Eternal War, press right after the last capture locks in. If you miss it, trim it from the session recording. The idea is explained in save the last few seconds instantly.
Find what was said with AI Voice Notes
AI Voice Notes turns what your squad says during co op into text pinned to the recording timeline. Lines like 'swarm incoming back to back', 'I got the Warrior parry', 'ammo crate over here' or 'for the Emperor push' are saved as sentences at that moment, and selecting one jumps to the scene. After a failed Lethal run, check who called for sniper cover first and where the squad split up, alongside the footage. To capture Discord calls cleanly, see record Discord call audio.
Build a montage with AI Highlight
AI Highlight joins the clips you check into one montage. Check 'Chainsword through the swarm', 'Perfect parry execution', 'Final Operation holdout' and 'Eternal War last capture', press AI Highlight, and you get one reel of carnage and parries. Sort by class for a 'Jump pack ground pound' reel or a 'Heavy bolter mow down' montage. To set the order yourself, use merge game clips.
Edit in DOR Studio
DOR Studio opens in your browser with nothing to install. Merge and trim clips, add text, background music and effect templates, and export in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 as an mp4 or a share link. Punch zoom the execution and shake zoom the moment the swarm crashes in. A handheld effect gives a jump pack landing real weight. Caption the class and difficulty, add a heavy track, and you have a proper Warhammer edit. See everything in the DOR browser clip editor.
Share with a dor.gg link
Send your Lethal clear as one dor.gg link. Post it in Discord and the squadmates who ran it with you watch it in a browser with no app. Tips for posting there are in share clips on Discord. YouTube and TikTok uploads carry no watermark either. Cutting just the swarm fights and Operation clears for your squad is covered in how to share Space Marine 2 gameplay videos.
Space Marine 2 recommended settings and troubleshooting
Space Marine 2 records in fullscreen, windowed and borderless. Recording starts at 1080p and 30fps; choose 60fps if you want executions to look smooth. If the game's own frame rate drops in swarm fights, lower graphics options one at a time and compare in the same Operation, and if it still struggles, switch DOR to 720p/30fps mode. If frames drop only while recording, start with fix FPS drops while recording.
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Frames drop in Tyranid swarm fights | Game graphics options and GPU headroom | Lower options one by one; if it still struggles, use 720p/30fps mode |
| The recording is a black screen | Display mode and other overlay software | Close other recorders and relaunch. DOR switches to monitor capture if game capture is blocked |
| Squadmates' voices are missing | The Windows output device and DOR microphone setting | Match them to the devices you use and record a short test |
| Recording does not start when the game opens | Whether DOR was running first | Open DOR first, then relaunch the game |
