Wuthering Waves records automatically: install DOR, launch the game, and AI handles it, with no OBS scene to build and no recording settings to touch. DOR detects the game as it starts and records from open world wandering to Hologram boss fights, with game audio and your mic. A perfect dodge on a boss's tell, an Intro and Outro swap chain, a Resonance Liberation going off and Rover's story cutscenes all end up in the recording. This guide covers setup, saving fights, finding rotation notes, building a showcase, sharing, and what to check when Wuthering Waves will not record.
- Keep your Wuthering Waves play as one video, from exploration to Hologram bosses, and rewatch story cutscenes later.
- Clip the moment your new pull melts a boss in one rotation right after it happens.
- Find muttered lines like 'swap in and pop Liberation' with AI Voice Notes and use them as rotation notes for the next attempt.
- Turn a Resonance Liberation into a 9:16 short and send it as a dor.gg link.
Before you record Wuthering Waves: install and recording mode
All you need is DOR, a free Windows app that adds no watermark. This guide covers Wuthering Waves running on a Windows PC. Recording works per session, so exploration, boss fights and story progress stay in one video until you quit, with no recording time limit. Wuthering Waves is heavy on the graphics card, and frames and recording both stay steady on PCs at or above the recommended spec. Start at the default 1080p and 30fps, and on a tight PC switch to the lighter 720p/30fps mode. You can also turn full play recording on or off per game in settings. The basics of recording PC games are in how to record PC games.
| Item | For Wuthering Waves | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install DOR | Free Windows app, no OBS style scenes | No watermark on videos |
| Game version | Wuthering Waves on a Windows PC | Detected automatically when the game opens |
| Recording mode | Session recording: one video from launch to exit | Exploration, boss fights and cutscenes stay in one recording |
| Display mode | Fullscreen, windowed and borderless all record | Switches to monitor capture if game capture is blocked |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30fps by default, 60fps available | The game is GPU heavy, so use 720p/30fps mode when frames are tight |
| Per game setting | Turn full play recording on or off per game in settings | Wuthering Waves can be adjusted on its own |
Record Wuthering Waves with DOR: step by step
- 1Install DOR and leave it runningInstall DOR and open it once; it then waits in the background for Wuthering Waves. If you talk through your rotations out loud, check that DOR picked the right microphone.
- 2Launch Wuthering WavesStart the game and DOR notices and begins recording. Capture starts at the login screen, so the first cutscene of today's story is included.
- 3Check that it is recordingBefore heading into the field, open the DOR app once to confirm it is recording. Recording uses GPU hardware encoding, so a Liberation filling the screen adds little load.
- 4Clip right after a dodge or LiberationRight after you counter a boss's tell with a perfect dodge, or a Hologram boss goes down, press the clip save shortcut. The last 30 seconds become a clip and the session recording keeps going.
- 5Quit and check My ClipsWhen you close the game, the recording and your saved clips appear in My Clips. Check that today's boss clear was captured.
Find your recordings
Recordings collect in My Clips, the library in the DOR app. Each launch and quit makes one recording, and clips saved with the shortcut are listed separately. In a recording that mixes exploration and combat, the boss health bar appearing marks the start of a fight, so skip between those points to move fast. Story cutscenes are recorded together with gameplay in one video, so if you record your first watch, you can go back to that stretch and rewatch it any time. Trim a combo by setting a start and an end and export it in 9:16 for a short. Like the videos you want to keep, such as a new Resonator's first boss fight. When space fills up, older videos you have not liked are cleared first, so those stay. Trimming tips are in how to trim game clips.
Save the moments you want to keep
The clip save shortcut keeps the stretch of play just before you press it. The default is 30 seconds, with 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds available. A single perfect dodge into a counter fits in 15 seconds. A full rotation where you swap characters with Intro and Outro skills and finish with a Liberation needs 45 or 60 seconds to include the first swap. Press right after the boss falls or the Liberation animation ends. If you miss it, trim it from the session recording. The idea is explained in save the last few seconds instantly.
Find what was said with AI Voice Notes
AI Voice Notes writes what you say while playing onto the recording timeline. It is useful even in solo combat. Lines like 'finally hit the dodge timing', 'swap in and pop Liberation', 'this Echo rolled a great main stat' or 'full stars on Tower this week' are kept as sentences at that moment, and selecting one jumps to the scene. Muttering 'Outro here then Liberation' becomes a rotation note for the next attempt. Game audio and your mic are recorded together; to balance them, see record game audio with your mic.
Build a montage with AI Highlight
AI Highlight joins the clips you check into one montage. Check 'Perfect dodge on a boss', 'Intro Outro swap chain', 'Resonance Liberation' and 'Hologram boss clear', press AI Highlight, and you get a single combo video. It is great for a new Resonator showcase or a 'Tower full stars' record, and an 'Absorbing a strong Echo' clip makes a nice ending. To set the order yourself, use merge game clips.
Edit in DOR Studio
DOR Studio opens in your browser with nothing to install. Merge and trim clips, add text, background music and effect templates, and export in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 as an mp4 or a share link. Punch zoom the instant the Liberation lands and add a shake zoom to a perfect dodge. Caption the character and sequence to make it read like a showcase. A glitch transition suits character swaps. Export in 9:16 and it is ready to post as a WuWa short. See everything in the DOR browser clip editor and vertical editing in record vertical shorts from games.
Share with a dor.gg link
When a friend asks about your rotation, send your boss fight as one dor.gg link and it plays in a browser with no app. Post it in Discord or a Reddit thread, and YouTube and TikTok uploads carry no watermark. Picking dodge counters and Liberations out of a PC recording is covered in how to share Wuthering Waves boss videos.
Wuthering Waves recommended settings and troubleshooting
Wuthering Waves records in fullscreen, windowed and borderless. Recording starts at 1080p and 30fps; choose 60fps if you want smooth footage for edits. If Wuthering Waves will not record, first check that DOR was running before the game and that full play recording for Wuthering Waves is on in settings. If game capture is blocked, DOR switches to monitor capture to avoid a black screen. If the game is not detected, see recorder not detecting the game, and if sound is missing, see game recording has no sound.
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Wuthering Waves opens but does not record | Launch order and the full play recording setting for the game | Make sure the setting is on, open DOR first, then relaunch the game |
| The recording is a black screen | Display mode and other overlay or recording software | Close other recorders and relaunch. DOR switches to monitor capture if game capture is blocked |
| No game sound in the recording | The Windows output device and DOR audio settings | Match them to the headset or speakers you use and record a short test |
| Frames drop in boss fights | Game graphics options and GPU headroom | Lower options; if it still struggles, use 720p/30fps mode |
