Euro Truck Simulator 2 records automatically once DOR is installed: launch the game and the AI takes it from there. You never press a record button or draw a capture area, so think of DOR as a dashcam that starts with the engine. The cargo selection screen, an overnight haul over the Alps to an Italian port and a reverse park that finally landed on the third try all stay in one unbroken video, and the recording stops when you close the game. Out of hours of driving, the parts you will want to rewatch are usually a sunset border crossing or a park that went in first time, so this guide focuses on finding those quickly. Follow it in order for installing DOR, saving moments, finding convoy chatter, making a drive video, sharing a link, and low spec settings and fixes.
- Keep a multi hour ETS2 haul in one video, from hooking up the cargo to the delivery screen.
- Save the moment you reversed a trailer into a narrow depot bay first time, right as you arrive.
- Use AI Voice Notes to jump to the point someone in the convoy said "Speed camera ahead, slow down".
- Combine an Alpine pass, a rainy night motorway and a sunset coastal road into a drive video you can leave on in the background.
- Send your convoy in formation to a Discord server or group chat with a single dor.gg link.
Before you record Euro Truck Simulator 2: install and recording mode
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is fairly light, so recording runs smoothly even at minimum spec. DOR is a free Windows app and never stamps a watermark over your videos, so nothing sits on top of your dashboard or mirrors. It uses full session recording: several deliveries in a row stay in one video until you close the game, and sleeping at a rest stop before setting off again does not split the file. There is no recording time limit either, so a long haul can be kept end to end. If you drive on a laptop or an older desktop, also read recording games on a low end PC. The table below lists what to check before your first recording.
| Item | For Euro Truck Simulator 2 | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install | DOR, free Windows app | No watermark on your videos |
| Game version | Windows PC version on Steam | Detected automatically when the game launches |
| Recording mode | Full session recording | Several deliveries stay in one video until you close the game |
| Display mode | Fullscreen, windowed and borderless all record | Keep whichever mode you already use in the game's settings |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30fps by default, 60fps available | Light enough to run smoothly at minimum spec, with a lighter 720p/30fps mode too |
| Sound | Engine, in game radio and microphone recorded together | Chatter with your convoy ends up in the same video |
Record Euro Truck Simulator 2 with DOR: step by step
- 1Install DORDownload and install DOR. It takes about a minute and is free. Leave DOR running once it is installed, and there is nothing else to prepare before each drive.
- 2Launch Euro Truck Simulator 2Start ETS2 from Steam and load your profile. DOR begins recording as soon as it detects the game, so it is normal for the cargo selection screen to be in the recording.
- 3Check that recording is runningBefore you hook up your first trailer, glance at the DOR app once to confirm recording is in progress. If the game is not detected, follow what to do when the recorder does not detect your game. After that, just drive, whether you stop at every rest area or push through the night.
- 4Save the clip as the park goes inRight after you back a trailer into a depot bay in one go, or crest an Alpine pass as the view opens up, press the clip save shortcut. The last 30 seconds are saved as a separate clip, so you never have to scrub through hours of driving.
- 5Close the game and open My ClipsFinish your delivery and close the game. The full drive and every clip you saved appear together in My Clips in the DOR app. Even the day of that emergency brake near miss is on video.
Find your recordings
You will find your recorded hauls in My Clips in the DOR app, also called the library. Each time you open and close ETS2 becomes one session, and moments you saved with the clip save shortcut show up as separate clips. Inside a long session, use the moment you hook up a trailer and the delivery complete screen as landmarks, and you can split the recording into one delivery at a time. Between those, border crossings and the restart after sleeping at a rest stop make good markers too. Set a start and an end point to trim the stretch you want, then export as 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. Trimming tips are in how to trim game clips. Like the recordings you want to keep, such as your first successful park on hard difficulty. When space fills up, older videos you have not liked are cleared first, so your liked hauls stay put.
Save the moments you want to keep
Even with the whole drive recorded, saving the moments you want to rewatch on the spot makes them much easier to find. Press the clip save shortcut and the last stretch of gameplay is saved as a clip. The default length is 30 seconds, and you can choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds in settings. In ETS2, good times to press it are right after a one shot reverse park, right after an emergency brake saves you from a crash, the moment you roll onto a sunset coastal road, and while your convoy holds one lane in formation. Scenic stretches are best enjoyed slowly, so set the clip length to 60 seconds for those; a quick near miss fits fine in 15. To pick the right length for each kind of moment, see saving the last few seconds instantly.
Find what was said with AI Voice Notes
Driving in a convoy means a steady stream of CB style banter: "Let's sleep at the next rest stop", "Speed camera ahead, slow down", "Tried parking on hard difficulty", "Keep the convoy in one lane". DOR records game audio, including the engine and the in game radio, together with your microphone, and AI Voice Notes writes what was said onto the recording timeline as text. If you want to know who missed the turn at which junction, search the timeline text for "junction" or "wrong turn" and select it to jump straight to that moment. If your convoy talks over a Discord voice channel, check your devices with recording Discord call audio.
Build a montage with AI Highlight
To turn a week of hauls into one drive video, use AI Highlight. In the library, check the Alpine pass crossing, a one shot depot reverse park, a rainy night motorway, a sunset coastal road and your convoy in formation, then select AI Highlight. Check them from day to night and the video flows like a single day on the road; drop the emergency brake near miss at the very end for a laugh. If you would rather set the clip order yourself, see how to merge game clips.
Edit in DOR Studio
DOR Studio opens in your browser with nothing to install. Cut the long flat stretches, keep the scenic ones, put the origin and destination cities on screen as text and add calm background music, and you have a trucking vlog. Try a text line like "first try" with a punch zoom on a successful park, and a shake zoom on the emergency brake. Drive videos suit 16:9, while short moments like a clean park work as 9:16 Shorts. Framing tips are in recording games for vertical Shorts. When you are done, download an mp4 or share it as a link straight away.
Share with a dor.gg link
Send trimmed moments as dor.gg links. Whoever opens the link plays the video right in the browser without installing anything, so you can paste a haul into your convoy's Discord server and everyone can watch while waiting for the next run. It is just as easy to send only the Alpine scenery to a friend or relative who loves trucks. Tips on picking long hauls and reverse parks to send are in sharing Euro Truck Simulator 2 gameplay videos, and posting to Discord is covered in sharing clips on Discord.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 recommended settings and troubleshooting
ETS2 is fairly light, so the default 1080p at 30fps records smoothly. If you want motorway driving or a convoy in formation, where the screen keeps moving, to look smoother, switch to 60fps. If you drive for hours on a laptop, the 720p/30fps mode keeps the load low. Fullscreen, windowed and borderless all record, so leave the game's display settings as they are. DOR uses GPU hardware encoding, so its effect on your frame rate while driving is small. For stable recordings across overnight hauls, read recording long gameplay without stutter. DOR has no cheat features and never touches your game files, play data or profile.
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The recording is a black screen | The display mode in the game's settings | All three display modes record. If it is still black, switch to monitor capture in DOR settings and make a short test recording. |
| Engine sound or radio is missing | Your Windows output device and DOR audio settings | Confirm which device the game plays through, then work through [fixing game recordings with no sound](game-recording-no-sound-fix). |
| Driving stutters while recording | Recording resolution and frame rate | GPU hardware encoding keeps the impact small, but if your laptop struggles, drop to 720p/30fps mode. |
| Long haul files are huge | Recording resolution and free drive space | Save only scenic stretches as clips and adjust settings with [reducing game recording file size](reduce-game-recording-file-size). |
| Worried a recorder could affect your profile | How DOR works | DOR only captures the screen, has no cheat features and does not modify game files or play data. |
