MapleStory records automatically once DOR is installed: open the game and the AI takes care of recording. You do not press a record button, and you do not build scenes and sources the way you would in OBS. From the moment MapleStory launches until you close it, every hour you spend in training maps and boss rooms ends up in one video. This guide walks through the whole routine in order: installing DOR, confirming the recording, saving Star Force and boss clear moments, finding them later, making a weekly recap and sharing it with your guild. Whether you run a Hyper Burning grind for hours or clear your weeklies in one sitting, you just play the way you always do.
- Keep your whole MapleStory session in one video, from a long Hyper Burning grind to the last weekly boss of the night.
- Save the second a Star Force attempt toward 22 stars lands, or a cube reset rolls the line you wanted, as a separate clip.
- Use AI Voice Notes to find your party's burst calls and death count chatter, then jump straight to that part of the run.
- Combine a Black Mage clear, a new class's first boss and your best enhancement clips into one weekly recap.
- Send a Star Force success to your guild Discord with a single dor.gg link as proof.
Before you record MapleStory: install and recording mode
MapleStory is light on hardware, so running a recorder next to it needs very little preparation. DOR is a free Windows app, and it never stamps a watermark on your videos, which keeps enhancement proof clips clean. MapleStory uses full session recording, so switching maps or changing channels does not break the video. It keeps going until you close the game. The Korean service and the global Steam version list different install sizes and recommended specs, so check the numbers for the version you play in MapleStory system requirements. The table below lists what is worth knowing before your first MapleStory recording.
| Item | For MapleStory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install | DOR, free Windows app | No watermark, so clips work as clean proof of a drop or an upgrade |
| Game version | Windows PC version (global Steam or your regional client) | DOR records MapleStory running on your PC, whichever service you play |
| Recording mode | Full session recording | One video from launch to exit, not split when you change maps or channels |
| Display mode | Fullscreen, windowed and borderless all record | Windowed MapleStory keeps recording even while you tab to other windows |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30fps by default | Pick 60fps for smoother boss patterns, or the lighter 720p/30fps mode |
| Storage | About 30MB for a 30 second 1080p clip | Leave generous free space on days you grind for hours |
Record MapleStory with DOR: step by step
- 1Install DORDownload and install DOR. It takes about a minute and costs nothing. Leave DOR running afterwards. You never have to open a recorder by hand before a MapleStory session.
- 2Launch MapleStoryStart MapleStory from Steam or your regional launcher and pick a character. As soon as DOR detects the game, recording begins, so everything from your first training map onward is captured.
- 3Confirm the recordingOnce you are in a map, check the DOR app once to see that recording is in progress. If nothing starts, follow what to do when the recorder does not detect your game. After that you can run weeklies or Monster Park without thinking about it.
- 4Clip results the moment they appearPress the clip save shortcut right after a Star Force result pops or a boss falls and its rewards drop. The last 30 seconds are saved as a separate clip, so you never have to dig through a four hour recording for that one tap.
- 5Close the game and open My ClipsWhen your bossing is done, close MapleStory. The full session and every clip you saved appear together in My Clips in the DOR app. The day you hit 22 stars and the day your gear boomed are filed the same way.
Find your recordings
Your recordings live in My Clips in the DOR app, also called the library. Each time you open and close MapleStory becomes one session, and anything you grabbed with the clip save shortcut is listed as its own clip underneath. To find a specific boss inside a long session, look for the boss entry screen and the reward screen after the clear. For enhancement attempts, look for the stretch where the Star Force window is open. Set a start and an end point to trim what you need, then export as 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. The full steps are in how to trim game clips. Like the videos you want to keep for good, such as your first Black Mage clear. When space fills up, older videos you have not liked are cleared first, so liked clears stay where they are.
Save the moments you want to keep
Even with the whole session on record, clipping guild worthy moments on the spot saves you a lot of scrubbing. Press the clip save shortcut and the last stretch of gameplay becomes a clip. The default length is 30 seconds, and you can choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds in settings. In MapleStory, good times to press it are right after a Star Force result, right after a cube reset gives you the potential line you were hunting, right after a boss drops its loot, and right after you survive a fight on your last death count. Enhancement results come fast, so 15 seconds is plenty. For a long final phase like the Black Mage, set 60 seconds so the burst window is included. See saving the last few seconds instantly for which length suits which moment.
Find what was said with AI Voice Notes
Weekly bossing parties usually run with a Discord call open, so lines like 'burst in three, everyone together' and 'I'm on my last death count, carry me' never stop. DOR records game audio and your mic together, and AI Voice Notes writes those lines onto the recording timeline as text. When you review why the party wiped, select the word 'burst' in the timeline text and you land on the call itself, so you can see whether it came late or the damage just was not there. The 'going for 22 star, pray for me' moment is found the same way. To capture your party's voices as well, see recording Discord call audio.
Build a montage with AI Highlight
After a week of bossing, turn your saved clips into a recap. In the library, check the Black Mage clear, the 22 star success, the cube jackpot, the last death count survival and your new class's first boss, then select AI Highlight. DOR joins them into one montage without you opening an editor, and the result is ready for your guild's announcement channel. If you want to set the clip order yourself, see how to merge game clips.
Edit in DOR Studio
DOR Studio opens in your browser with nothing to install. Trim from just before the enhance click and add a shake zoom on the result, and the 22 star moment hits much harder. Add a '22 STAR' text line and a music track, export in 9:16, and you have a short. You can also merge several boss clears and link them with glitch transitions. For vertical framing tips, read recording games for vertical Shorts. Download the finished video as an mp4 or share it as a link right away.
Share with a dor.gg link
Send trimmed moments as dor.gg links. Whoever opens one plays it straight in the browser without installing anything, so a link pasted into your guild Discord is enough for everyone to watch. With no watermark on the video, it beats a screenshot as proof of a Star Force success. Tips on cutting just the clear out of a long recording are in sharing a MapleStory boss clear video, and posting to Discord is covered in sharing clips on Discord.
MapleStory recommended settings and troubleshooting
MapleStory is a 2D game, so the default 1080p at 30fps already captures skill effects and boss patterns clearly. If you want dodges through boss patterns to look smoother, switch to 60fps. If you grind for hours on a laptop, the 720p/30fps mode keeps the load low. Fullscreen, windowed and borderless windows all record, so keep whichever mode you already use in the game's settings. Where anti cheat blocks game capture, DOR switches to monitor capture and keeps recording. DOR uses GPU hardware encoding, so its effect on your frame rate while training is small. MapleStory tends to stay open all day, so for steady long recordings see recording long gameplay without stutter. DOR has no cheat features and never touches your game files or play data.
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The recording is a black screen in fullscreen | The game's display mode and the capture method | Try windowed or borderless, or follow [fixing fullscreen recording](fullscreen-recording-not-working) to switch to monitor capture. |
| Boss music or skill sounds are missing | Your Windows output device and DOR audio settings | Confirm which device the game plays through, then work through [fixing game recordings with no sound](game-recording-no-sound-fix). |
| Lag or frame drops while grinding | Recording resolution and frame rate | GPU hardware encoding keeps the impact small, but if it still struggles, drop to 720p/30fps mode. |
| Hyper Burning sessions take up a lot of space | Recording resolution and free drive space | Clip the moments worth showing, and leave long sessions you have watched unliked so they are cleared first when space fills up. |
| Worried a recorder could get your account flagged | How DOR works | DOR only captures the screen, has no cheat features and does not modify game files or play data. |
