AION 2 records automatically once DOR is installed: launch the game and the AI handles the rest. There is no recording hotkey or macro to set up. The moment AION 2 starts on your PC, DOR detects it and keeps everything from character select through dailies, party dungeons and Abyss battles in one video until you close the game. DOR is a standalone free app, so it works without NVIDIA software or any GPU overlay. This guide walks you through the full routine for AION 2: installing DOR, checking the recording, saving moments, finding them later, building a campaign recap and sharing it with your legion.
- Keep a full session in one video, from login to logout, including Elyos versus Asmodian clashes in the Abyss and aerial fights on wings.
- Save the moments you want to rewatch, like a five player dungeon boss last hit or a gear enchant that finally landed, as separate clips.
- Use AI Voice Notes to find raid calls like 'burn it before enrage' and jump straight to that boss phase.
- Combine a fortress fight, an aerial finish and a Gladiator skill chain into a recap of the day's Abyss campaign.
- Send a faction battle to your legion Discord or group chat with a single dor.gg link.
Before you record AION 2: install and recording mode
AION 2 is an MMORPG with long sessions, so the main thing to sort out before you record is where your recordings go and how much free space you have. DOR is a free Windows app and never adds a watermark. AION 2 uses full session recording, which means loading screens for dungeon entries or trips to the Abyss do not split the video; it keeps running until you close the game. If you want recordings on a larger drive, read changing the recording save location first. The table below lists what is worth knowing before your first AION 2 recording.
| Item | For AION 2 | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install | DOR, free Windows app | Runs on its own without a GPU overlay, and adds no watermark |
| Launching the game | PC version of AION 2 from PURPLE or another launcher | However you start it, DOR detects the game once it runs on your PC |
| Recording mode | Full session recording | One video from login to exit, not split by dungeon or Abyss trips |
| Display mode | Fullscreen, windowed and borderless all record | Keep whichever mode you already use in the game settings |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30fps by default | 60fps is available even in large battles, plus a lighter 720p/30fps mode |
| Per game recording toggle | Turn AION 2 on or off in DOR settings | Useful if you only want to record on dungeon or Abyss nights |
Record AION 2 with DOR: step by step
- 1Install DORDownload DOR and install it. Setup takes about a minute and the app is free. Leave DOR running afterwards. Even on legion raid nights there is nothing else to prepare before you log in.
- 2Launch AION 2Start AION 2 as usual and pick your character. Recording begins as soon as DOR detects the game, so the character select screen and the first loading screen at the start of the video are expected.
- 3Check that recording is runningWhen you arrive in town, glance at the DOR app once to confirm the recording is in progress. If the game is not picked up, follow what to do when the recorder does not detect your game. From then on, run dailies or fly into the Abyss without thinking about it.
- 4Clip boss kills and enchant winsRight after a party dungeon boss goes down, or right after an enchant finally succeeds after a few failures, press the clip save shortcut. The last 30 seconds are stored as their own clip, so you will not have to scrub through hours of footage.
- 5Quit and open My ClipsWhen you log off and close the game, the full session video and every clip you saved appear together in My Clips in the DOR app. An all night Abyss session is kept the same way.
Find your recordings
Your recordings live in My Clips in the DOR app, also called the library. Each time you open and close AION 2 becomes one session, and anything you grabbed with the clip save shortcut shows up as its own clip. In a session that runs for hours, use loading screens as dividers. Dungeon entries and trips to the Abyss both pass through a loading screen, so the change in the picture stands out when you scrub quickly. Jotting down a rough time when you enter a dungeon, such as 'about two hours after login', gets you there even faster. Set a start and an end point to trim the part you want, then export as 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. The full walkthrough is in how to trim game clips. Like the videos you want to keep, such as your first fortress capture. When space fills up, older videos you have not liked are cleared first, so liked videos stay.
Save the moments you want to keep
Even with the whole session recorded, saving the moments you care about on the spot makes them far easier to find. Press the clip save shortcut and the last stretch of play becomes a clip. The default length is 30 seconds, and you can pick 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds in settings. In AION 2, good times to press it are right after a dungeon boss last hit, right after you send an opponent falling in an aerial fight, and right after the enchant success message appears. An Abyss fortress clash or a legion charge can run longer than a minute, so switch the clip length to 60 seconds beforehand to capture the whole push. To change the shortcut, see saving the last few seconds instantly.
Find what was said with AI Voice Notes
Party dungeons and the Abyss come with constant calls like 'Asmodians incoming, get airborne', 'Cleric, one more heal' and 'burn it before enrage'. DOR records game audio and your microphone together, and AI Voice Notes writes what your party said onto the recording timeline as text. If you want to know who called what during the third boss mechanic, find that line in the timeline text and select it to jump to the scene. Your 'enchanting now, please stick' is on record too, which makes the enchant success easy to find again. If your own voice sounds quiet, check your input device with recording games with mic audio.
Build a montage with AI Highlight
A full day of play has too much travel and town time to show as it is. In the library, check your clips of the Abyss fortress clash, the aerial kill mid fall, the dungeon boss last hit, the Gladiator skill chain, the gear enchant success and the legion charge, then select AI Highlight. DOR joins them into one montage of the day's campaign at a length that suits a legion group chat. If you want to set the order yourself, see how to merge game clips.
Edit in DOR Studio
DOR Studio opens in your browser with nothing to install. Trim down to a skill chain, add a punch zoom on the damage window and put the skill names on screen as text, and you have a class guide made from your own play. Try a shake zoom when you fold your wings and dive, and a glitch transition where one faction fight cuts to the next. Add background music and export 9:16 for a short, or keep aerial fights in 16:9 so the surroundings stay visible. Download the result as an mp4 or share it as a link right away.
Share with a dor.gg link
Send trimmed moments as dor.gg links. The person who opens the link plays it right in the browser without installing anything, so you can paste it straight into your legion Discord. Send party members the whole boss fight so you can review the mechanics together, and drop just the 20 to 30 seconds before the kill into the legion chat. Clues for finding each kind of content in a long recording are in sharing AION 2 gameplay videos, and posting to Discord is covered in sharing clips on Discord.
AION 2 recommended settings and troubleshooting
AION 2 is GPU heavy, so recording on a PC at or above the recommended spec keeps both in game frame rate and the recording stable. Start with the default 1080p at 30fps, and switch to 60fps if you want wing effects and aerial combat to look smoother. If large faction battles start to feel heavy, the 720p/30fps mode lowers the load. Fullscreen, windowed and borderless windows all record, so you can leave the game's display settings alone. DOR uses GPU hardware encoding, so its effect on your game is small. For sessions that run for hours, see recording long gameplay without stutter, and if your frame rate drops, see fixing FPS drops while recording. DOR has no cheat features and never touches game files or play data.
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The recording is a black screen | The display mode in the game settings | DOR records fullscreen, windowed and borderless alike. If it is still black, follow [fixing fullscreen recording](fullscreen-recording-not-working) to switch to monitor capture. |
| Frame rate drops in faction battles | Recording resolution and frame rate | GPU hardware encoding keeps the impact small, but if your PC still struggles, drop to 720p/30fps mode. |
| A full day's file is very large | Recording resolution and free drive space | Save the scenes you rewatch as clips and adjust settings with [reducing game recording file size](reduce-game-recording-file-size). |
| Grinding days get recorded too | Per game recording in DOR settings | Turn off full session recording for AION 2 in settings and switch it on only for dungeon or Abyss nights. |
| Worried a recorder could affect your account | How DOR works | DOR only captures the screen, has no cheat features and does not modify game files or play data. |
