Aniimo records automatically once DOR is installed: launch the game on PC and the AI handles recording. There is no record button to press. From the moment you head into the field to meet your first Aniimo until you close the game, exploring Idyll, Aniipod catches and Aniimo battles all end up in one video. This guide walks through the routine in order: installing DOR, checking the recording, saving catches, finding them later, making a partner intro video and sharing it. Even a catch that took throw after throw stays on video in full, so you never miss the moment a new partner joins.
- Keep your exploration of Idyll in one video, from locking eyes with a new Aniimo in the grass to the catch.
- Save a rare Aniimo you landed after many throws, or a Twined glide off a cliff, as a separate clip.
- Use AI Voice Notes to find shouts like 'there's one I've never seen on that hill' and jump to that scene.
- Combine a battle comeback, a sunset over the fields and a whole team photo moment into a 9:16 partner intro short.
Before you record Aniimo: install and recording mode
Aniimo is GPU heavy, so playing at or above the recommended spec keeps both your in game frame rate and the recording stable. Gliding across the wide open world and battle effects going off are the heaviest moments. If frames worry you, start with fixing FPS drops while recording. DOR is a free Windows app and never adds a watermark, so your partners stay uncovered. Aniimo uses full session recording, so going from exploring to decorating your home and back out to the field stays one video until you close the game. Even when friends join from other platforms, your Aniimo screen on PC is recorded as usual.
| Item | For Aniimo | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install | DOR, free Windows app | No watermark, so nothing covers your partner intro videos |
| Game version | Windows PC version on Steam | DOR records Aniimo on your PC, including multiplayer with friends |
| Recording mode | Full session recording | One video from launch to exit, unbroken between exploring and home decorating |
| Hardware | GPU heavy game | At or above recommended spec, frame rate and recording both stay stable |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30fps by default | 60fps for smoother glides and battles, or 720p/30fps mode if it struggles |
| Storage | About 30MB for a 30 second 1080p clip | Leave plenty of drive space on long exploring days |
Record Aniimo with DOR: step by step
- 1Download and install DORDownload and install DOR. It takes about a minute and is free. Leave it running, and there is nothing to prepare each time you open Aniimo.
- 2Launch AniimoStart Aniimo from Steam and load in. As soon as DOR detects the game, recording begins, so everything from heading into the field to meet your first Aniimo is captured.
- 3Check the recording before heading outBefore you start exploring, glance at the DOR app once to confirm the recording. If nothing starts, follow what to do when the recorder does not detect your game. After that, focus on the Aniimo past the grass and over the hill.
- 4Clip right after the catchPress the clip save shortcut right after a rare Aniimo is caught after several Aniipod throws, or right after you finish a Twined glide off a cliff. The last 30 seconds are saved as a clip, so you never have to dig through a long exploring session to find it.
- 5Quit and open My ClipsWhen the adventure is over, close the game. The full session and every clip you saved appear together in My Clips in the DOR app. The day you gained a new partner and the day you only took in the scenery are filed the same way.
Find your recordings
Your recordings live in My Clips in the DOR app, also called the library. Each time you open and close Aniimo becomes one session, and clips saved with the shortcut appear underneath it. When you are looking for a catch, the first Aniipod throw is the best clue. If you remember roughly how long after logging in you spotted the rare Aniimo, and what the weather and time of day were, you will find it fast even in a long recording. Set a start and an end point to trim what you need, then export as 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. The full steps are in how to trim game clips. Like the video of your first rare catch. When space fills up, older videos you have not liked are cleared first, so that moment stays.
Save the moments you want to keep
Exploring is long and catches are quick. Even with the whole session recorded, clipping the moment a new partner joins right then cuts your search time later. Press the clip save shortcut and the last stretch is saved as a clip. The default length is 30 seconds, and you can choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds in settings. In Aniimo, good times to press it are right after an Aniipod catch lands, right after you sneak up from behind and catch one on the first try, right after you turn a battle around, and right after a Twined glide or dive. For a catch that took many throws, set 60 seconds so the first throw is included. The last stretch of a three player Egg Heist round fits 60 seconds well too. See saving the last few seconds instantly for which length fits which moment.
Find what was said with AI Voice Notes
Exploring with friends brings a steady stream of shouts like 'there's one I've never seen on that hill', 'wear it down a little more, then throw' and 'got it, finally on the team'. DOR records game audio and your mic together, and AI Voice Notes writes those words onto the recording timeline as text. Even the gasp when someone spots a rare Aniimo is kept in text, so you can find exactly which hill they were yelling about in your exploring footage. The 'look at that sunset, stop for a sec' moment is found the same way. To balance game audio and your voice, see recording games with mic audio.
Build a montage with AI Highlight
Once you have a few partners, turn saved clips into an adventure log. In the library, check your first Aniimo catch, chasing a rare Aniimo, the comeback in an Aniimo battle, the cliff climb with a partner and the sunset over the fields, then select AI Highlight. DOR joins them into one montage. Add the whole team photo moment at the end and it closes with all your partners together in one frame. To set the order yourself, see how to merge game clips.
Edit in DOR Studio
DOR Studio opens in your browser with nothing to install. Cut the travel, then add a punch zoom and music where your Aniimo reacts. A shake zoom when battle effects go off and the handheld effect on glide shots make it feel like you are there. Export in 9:16 for a cute partner intro short, and see recording games for vertical Shorts for vertical framing tips. Download the finished video as an mp4 or share it as a link straight away.
Share with a dor.gg link
Send trimmed moments as dor.gg links. Whoever opens one plays it in the browser without installing anything, so one link on Discord shows off the Aniimo you caught. Match the clip to the person: send the whole Egg Heist round to the friend who played it with you, and just the catch to someone seeing the game for the first time. Tips on picking rare catches and Egg Heist scenes are in keeping Aniimo catch videos, and posting to Discord is covered in sharing clips on Discord.
Aniimo recommended settings and troubleshooting
Aniimo is GPU heavy, so matching recording settings to your hardware matters. At or above recommended spec, start with the default 1080p at 30fps, and switch to 60fps if you want glides and battles to look smoother. On a PC with little frame headroom, use the 720p/30fps mode to cut the load. DOR uses GPU hardware encoding, so recording has only a small effect on your frame rate. Fullscreen, windowed and borderless windows all record, so keep the game's display settings as they are. On days you roam the continent for hours, see recording long gameplay without stutter. DOR has no cheat features and never touches your game files or play data.
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Friends' voices or game sound are missing | Your Windows output device and DOR audio settings | Confirm which device the game plays through, then work through [fixing game recordings with no sound](game-recording-no-sound-fix). |
| Fullscreen records as a black screen | The game's display mode and the capture method | Switch to borderless, or follow [fixing fullscreen recording](fullscreen-recording-not-working) to change to monitor capture. |
| Frames drop while gliding or battling | Recording resolution, frame rate and in game graphics | Drop to 720p/30fps mode and lower the in game graphics preset one step. |
| Worried a recorder could affect your account | How DOR works | DOR only captures the screen, has no cheat features and does not modify game files or play data. |
