Blade & Soul records automatically once DOR is installed: launch the game and the AI handles the rest. Start BNS on your PC and DOR detects it, keeping everything from field grinding and dailies through the arena, party dungeons and windwalk flights across the desert in one video until you close the game. Martial arts fights are decided in an instant, but with the whole session recorded you can go back and see exactly when you used your escape or which mechanic you missed your resist on. This guide covers installing DOR, confirming the recording, saving duels and boss kills, finding them later, building combo videos and sharing them with your clan.
- Keep each Blade & Soul session in one video, from field grinding to arena duels and party dungeons.
- Save an arena comeback, a stun chain after you baited their escape or a field boss last hit as separate clips.
- Use AI Voice Notes to find party calls like 'pop your resist before the slam' and jump straight to that mechanic.
- Combine gliding across the desert, a party dungeon boss kill and a flashy class combo into a week long martial arts montage.
- Post an arena win to your clan Discord or group chat with a single dor.gg link.
Before you record Blade & Soul: install and recording mode
Blade & Soul is GPU heavy, so it pays to settle your recording resolution and frame rate once before you start. DOR is a free Windows app and never adds a watermark. BNS uses full session recording, which means the video does not split when you enter and leave the arena or run a dungeon several times; it keeps running until you close the game. If your frame rate drops once recording is on, check fixing FPS drops while recording first. The table below lists what is worth knowing before your first Blade & Soul recording.
| Item | For Blade & Soul | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install | DOR, free Windows app | No watermark on your videos |
| Game version | Blade & Soul running on your PC | DOR detects the game automatically when it starts |
| Recording mode | Full session recording | Field, arena and dungeons stay in one video until you quit |
| Display mode | Fullscreen, windowed and borderless all record | Keep whichever mode you already use in the game settings |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30fps by default | 60fps is available even in big battles, plus a lighter 720p/30fps mode |
| Per game recording toggle | Turn Blade & Soul on or off in DOR settings | Leave it off for dailies and switch it on for arena or new dungeon nights |
Record Blade & Soul with DOR: step by step
- 1Install DORDownload DOR and install it. Setup takes about a minute and the app is free. Leave DOR running afterwards. You do not need to press a record button before queuing for the arena.
- 2Launch Blade & SoulStart Blade & Soul on your PC as usual and pick your character. Recording begins as soon as DOR detects the game, so the character select screen and the first loading screen at the start of the video are expected.
- 3Check that recording is runningWhen you enter the field, glance at the DOR app once to confirm the recording is in progress. If the game is not picked up, follow what to do when the recorder does not detect your game. After that, run dailies or duel without thinking about it.
- 4Clip duels and boss killsRight after you bait out every escape and land the full stun chain to win a duel, or right after a party dungeon boss health bar disappears, press the clip save shortcut. The last 30 seconds are stored as a separate clip, so you will not have to hunt for that match in hours of footage.
- 5Quit and open My ClipsWhen you log off and close the game, the full session video plus every clip you saved appear together in My Clips in the DOR app. An all night dungeon session is kept the same way.
Find your recordings
Your recordings live in My Clips in the DOR app, also called the library. Each time you open and close Blade & Soul becomes one session, and anything you saved with the clip save shortcut appears as its own clip. To find one duel in a long session, look between the two screen transitions when you enter and leave the arena. For dungeon bosses, the boss health bar appearing at the top of the screen is the landmark; rewind from where the bar disappears to where the final mechanic starts so the kill does not drag. Set a start and an end point to trim what you need, then export as 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. The full walkthrough is in how to trim game clips. Like the videos you want to keep, such as your first arena promotion. When space fills up, older videos you have not liked are cleared first, so liked videos stay.
Save the moments you want to keep
Even with the whole session recorded, saving the moment a fight was decided on the spot makes it much easier to find. Press the clip save shortcut and the last stretch becomes a clip. The default length is 30 seconds, and you can pick 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds in settings. In Blade & Soul, good moments to press it are right after you read an escape and land a stun chain, right after an arena comeback, and right after you take the last hit on a field boss. A single chain fits in 15 seconds, while a full duel or the final mechanic of a party dungeon can run past a minute, so set those to 60 seconds. To change the shortcut, see saving the last few seconds instantly.
Find what was said with AI Voice Notes
Party dungeons run on calls like 'escape's on cooldown, grab him', 'pop your resist before the slam' and 'gliding ahead, see you there'. DOR records game audio and your microphone together, and AI Voice Notes writes your party's calls onto the recording timeline as text. To review which mechanic someone yelled about resists on, find the line in the timeline text and select it to jump to the scene and watch it alongside the call. The duel right after 'one more, I've got you this time' is just as easy to find. If your voice sounds quiet, check your input device with recording games with mic audio.
Build a montage with AI Highlight
A week of Blade & Soul includes lots of repeated dailies and travel. In the library, check your clips of the arena comeback, the baited escape into a stun chain, gliding across the desert, the party dungeon boss kill, the flashy class combo and the field boss last hit, then select AI Highlight. DOR joins them into a montage of a week of training at a length that shows off your skill to the clan. To line up only your duels in order, see how to merge game clips.
Edit in DOR Studio
DOR Studio opens in your browser with nothing to install. Trim from where your chain starts to the frame they hit the floor, add a punch zoom on the final hit and a shake zoom as the boss goes down. Put your class and skill order on screen as text for a combo guide, or add background music for a martial arts montage. Combos read best in 16:9 with your skill bar visible, while windwalk flights work as 9:16 shorts with your character centered; try a glitch transition between scenes too. Vertical framing tips are in recording games for vertical Shorts. Download the result as an mp4 or share it as a link right away.
Share with a dor.gg link
Send trimmed moments as dor.gg links. Whoever opens the link plays it in the browser without installing anything, which makes arena clips easy to drop into your clan Discord. Send clanmates who play the same class the stretch from the chain's opener to the finish, and send dungeon partners the final mechanic through the boss kill. Clues for finding arena and dungeon scenes are in saving and sharing Blade & Soul duel videos, and posting to Discord is covered in sharing clips on Discord.
Blade & Soul recommended settings and troubleshooting
Blade & Soul is GPU heavy, so a PC at or above the recommended spec keeps both in game frame rate and recording stable. Start with the default 1080p at 30fps, and switch to 60fps if you want fast duel chains and windwalk flights to look smoother. 60fps stays available even in big battles, but if things get heavy once recording is on, drop to the 720p/30fps mode. Fullscreen, windowed and borderless windows all record, and DOR uses GPU hardware encoding so the frame rate impact is small. For nights of dungeon laps, see recording long gameplay without stutter. DOR has no cheat features and never touches game files or play data.
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The recording is a black screen | The display mode in the game settings | DOR records fullscreen, windowed and borderless alike. If it is still black, follow [fixing fullscreen recording](fullscreen-recording-not-working) to switch to monitor capture. |
| Frame rate drops in field boss fights | Recording resolution, frame rate and game graphics settings | GPU hardware encoding keeps the impact small, but if your PC still struggles, drop to 720p/30fps mode. |
| A full day's recording is very large | Recording resolution and free drive space | Save the scenes you rewatch as clips and adjust settings with [reducing game recording file size](reduce-game-recording-file-size). |
| Daily chore days get recorded too | Per game recording in DOR settings | Turn off full session recording for Blade & Soul and switch it on only for arena or new dungeon nights. |
| Worried a recorder could affect your account | How DOR works | DOR only captures the screen, has no cheat features and does not modify game files or play data. |
