Last Epoch records automatically once DOR is installed: launch the game and the AI handles the rest. Sorting gear in town, pushing the campaign across eras, running Monolith of Fate echoes back to back, everything from the moment the game starts until you close it flows into one video. You never know when your loot filter will flag a jackpot or your mastery build will finally fill the screen, but recording is already running. This guide walks you through recording Last Epoch with DOR, a free Windows app, then finding unique drops and boss kills inside hours of farming footage, trimming them and sharing them as build videos.
- Keep your whole Last Epoch session in one video, from creating your first character of a cycle to endgame Monolith farming.
- Save the moment a unique with Legendary Potential drops, or a crafting jackpot result screen, as a clip right away.
- Use AI Voice Notes to keep build talk with your party as timeline text and check which passives you agreed on next to the footage.
- Combine your first mastery pick, the key unique drop and the campaign final boss into a build progress video.
- Paste a clip of your build in action into a Reddit build post or party Discord as a dor.gg link.
Before you record Last Epoch: install and recording mode
Last Epoch is not demanding on hardware, but once you log in and bounce between the campaign, the Monolith, dungeons and crafting, hours slip by. DOR is a free Windows app and never adds a watermark. Last Epoch uses full session recording, so one launch to exit becomes one video no matter how many echoes you run. If you regularly farm for three hours or more, read recording long gameplay without stutter first. The table below lists what is worth knowing before you record Last Epoch.
| Item | For Last Epoch | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install | DOR, free Windows app, no watermark | Nothing to set up each time you pick a character |
| Game version | Windows PC version on Steam | DOR records Last Epoch running on your PC |
| Recording mode | Full session recording, one video from launch to exit | Campaign, Monolith echoes, dungeons and crafting all follow on in one video |
| Display mode | Fullscreen, windowed and borderless all record | DOR switches to monitor capture where game capture is blocked |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 30fps by default, 60fps available | Screen filling builds look best at 60fps, and 720p/30fps mode is there too |
| Storage | About 30MB for a 30 second 1080p clip | Days of back to back echoes mean long recordings, so keep plenty of free space |
Record Last Epoch with DOR: step by step
- 1Install DORDownload DOR and install it. It takes about a minute and costs nothing. Once installed, leave DOR running. If you talk builds with your party over voice, check that your usual mic is connected.
- 2Launch Last Epoch and pick a characterStart Last Epoch from Steam and choose a character. Recording begins as soon as DOR detects the game. At the start of a new cycle, even the character creation screen where you pick a base class is captured, so you can look back at how your build changed week by week.
- 3Confirm the recording is runningOnce you are in town, glance at the DOR app to confirm recording is in progress. If the game is not picked up, follow what to do when the recorder does not detect your game. After that, play as usual, whether you are sorting your stash or jumping straight into the Monolith.
- 4Save a clip right after a big dropWhen your loot filter lights up orange and a unique with LP hits the floor, pick it up, check the tooltip and press the clip save shortcut. The moment is saved as its own clip, so you will not have to dig for it in hours of farming footage.
- 5Close the game and open My ClipsWhen you are done farming, close the game. That session's full video and your saved clips show up together in My Clips in the DOR app. Open the drop clip first and check that the item name and tooltip are readable.
Find your recordings
Your recordings live in My Clips in the DOR app, also called the library. Each launch and exit of Last Epoch becomes one session, and anything you saved with the clip save shortcut appears as its own clip. To find a drop you did not clip, use scenes where the screen changes a lot as landmarks: returning to town, an echo starting, a boss appearing. If you noted the drop time from your taskbar clock, you can jump close to it right away. Keep drop clips short, 10 to 20 seconds from just before you pick up the item until you check the tooltip, and trim build showcases one mob pack at a time, from the first cast to the last enemy. Builds with screen filling effects read best in 16:9, while 9:16 or 1:1 suit friends watching on a phone. The full walkthrough is in how to trim game clips. Like the videos you want to keep for good, such as your signature build of the cycle. When space fills up, older videos you have not liked are cleared first, so your liked runs stay safe.
Save the moments you want to keep
Even though the whole session is recorded, saving jackpot drops and the first time your build really clicks as clips on the spot is much easier. Press the clip save shortcut and the last stretch of gameplay is saved as a clip. The default length is 30 seconds, and you can choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds in settings. In Last Epoch, good times to press it are right after you pick up a unique with LP and check its tooltip, right after the crafting result screen shows the affix you wanted, right after your new mastery skill wipes a pack for the first time, and right after you barely survive a high Corruption echo. An echo boss kill with loot pouring out fits better at 60 seconds, while a crafting result is fine at 15. Lengths and shortcut settings are covered in saving the last few seconds instantly.
Find what was said with AI Voice Notes
Last Epoch parties never stop talking builds. Lines like 'Unique with LP just dropped', 'Should we push Corruption a bit more' and 'This mastery combo hits way harder than I thought' keep coming. DOR records game audio and your mic together, and AI Voice Notes writes what your party said onto the recording timeline as text. When you cannot remember which passives you agreed on or where you planned to swap gear, find the line in the timeline text and select it to jump to that scene. Search 'loot filter just lit up orange, look' and the drop appears right away too. For theorycrafters, it works like research notes pinned next to the footage. If your voice sounds quiet, check your input device in recording games with mic audio.
Build a montage with AI Highlight
A build you raised over a whole cycle deserves a video of how it came together. In the library, check Mastery Build Online, the LP Unique Drop, Echo Run Cleared, High Corruption Survival, the Campaign Final Boss and your Crafting Jackpot, then select AI Highlight. DOR joins them into a montage of the build taking shape, a good record to keep before you pick a new class next cycle. To join clips in build stage order yourself, see how to merge game clips.
Edit in DOR Studio
DOR Studio opens in your browser with nothing to install. Trim the stretch where your skill chain clears the screen, add a shake zoom, and label your class, mastery and the skill nodes you changed as text. Merge several scenes over background music and you have a 16:9 build guide. If the game audio is loud, turn the music down to balance it. A punch zoom suits the moment a unique drops, and a glitch transition works well where you jump between eras. Export formats and ratios are covered in exporting clips. Download the finished video as an mp4 or share it as a link straight away.
Share with a dor.gg link
Send trimmed moments as dor.gg links. Whoever opens the link plays the video right in the browser without the app, so pasting a clip of your build into a Reddit build post or a forum guide lets readers watch it instantly. For a friend who theorycrafts with you, the item name and the nodes you changed are enough, but for someone who has never played, add a line naming your class and mastery and the moment makes far more sense. Which moments to keep at each build stage, and for how long, is covered in sharing Last Epoch build videos, and posting to Discord is covered in sharing clips on Discord.
Last Epoch recommended settings and troubleshooting
Last Epoch is not heavy, so the default 1080p at 30fps already captures combat clearly. If your build fills the screen with skill effects, though, record at 60fps so your showcase looks smooth. On a laptop or an older PC, use the 720p/30fps mode, and see recording games on a low end PC for more settings. Fullscreen, windowed and borderless windows all record, so keep whatever display mode you already use. DOR uses GPU hardware encoding, so its effect on your in game frame rate is small. If frames only drop in high Corruption echoes where monsters flood the screen, work through fixing FPS drops while recording. DOR has no cheat features and never touches your game files or character data.
| Symptom | What to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The recording is a black screen | The display mode in the game's settings | DOR records fullscreen, windowed and borderless alike. If it is still black, follow [fixing fullscreen recording](fullscreen-recording-not-working) to switch to monitor capture |
| Skill sounds or party chat are missing | Your Windows output device and DOR audio settings | Check the device game audio plays through and your mic, then work through [fixing game recordings with no sound](game-recording-no-sound-fix) |
| Frames drop in high Corruption echoes | Whether recording is set to 60fps, and graphics settings | Set recording back to 30fps or switch to 720p/30fps mode |
| You cannot find a drop in hours of farming footage | Where town returns, echo starts and boss appearances are | Narrow it down using scenes where the screen changes a lot, and save a clip right after drops next time |
| The item name is not visible in a drop clip | Where your trim ends | Trim again with the end a little later so the tooltip check is included |
